Jayden Daniels’ Mother Sends Message to Commanders Fans After Injury

Not much has gone right for the Washington Commanders over the past week. After suffering a last-second loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 6, the Commanders followed that up by getting blown out by the Dallas Cowboys in Week 7. And as if they didn’t have enough injury issues to deal with, star quarterback Jayden Daniels was forced out of this game early with a hamstring injury.

Washington was already without its top three wide receivers (Terry McLaurin, Deebo Samuel, and Noah Brown) for this game due to injury, and with Daniels out now, that has made things even more difficult for the unit. In the wake of Daniels’ latest injury, his mother, Regina Jackson, sent a strong message to Commanders fans on social media.

Jayden Daniels’ Mother Doesn’t Hold Back on Commanders Fans

After putting together arguably the most impressive rookie campaign from a quarterback in NFL history last year, Daniels’ sophomore season hasn’t been as impressive to this point. Injuries have battered the Commanders, and while Daniels has done his best to keep the team afloat (when he hasn’t been injured on the sidelines himself), he has just a 2-3 record in his five starts so far.

In a way, the start of Daniels’ career has closely modeled that of former Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III. Selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Griffin starred as a rookie, but that ended up being the best season of his career. Injuries quickly sapped Griffin of his abilities under center, and while he bounced around the league as a backup, he was never the same player after his stellar season in 2012.

It’s still way too early to say whether or not Daniels will be the second coming of Griffin, but that was the comparison fans were making after his latest injury. That’s not something that Daniels’ mother wanted to hear, and she sent a strong message to fans of her son on social media after the Commanders’ crushing Week 7 loss.

“I wish you would stop manifesting RGIII on my son. Words are powerful and that’s all that’s talked about 🙏🏽🙏🏽,” Jackson said in a post on X.

Will Jayden Daniels Miss Time for the Commanders with His Hamstring Injury?

If there’s a silver lining for the Commanders, it’s that they will have an extra day to get themselves ready for Week 8, as they will be taking on the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football. That may ultimately not matter, though, as initial reports have indicated that Daniels could be forced to miss two-to-four weeks recovering from this injury.

More tests will be done on Daniels’ injury in the coming days that will determine if he has to miss time, and if he can’t go, that would force Marcus Mariota into action under center. Regardless of who is playing at quarterback, Washington will face a tough challenge going to Arrowhead Stadium to play Kansas City on primetime next week. Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET on Monday, and all eyes will be on Daniels to see if he ends up playing.
