Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones did not end his working relationship with Micah Parsons on the best of terms, trading the superstar linebacker to the Green Bay Packers just days ahead of the start of the regular season.
As it turns out, the deal didn’t work out immediately for either side. The Cowboys are all but eliminated from playoff contention following a loss to the Minnesota Vikings on “Sunday Night Football” in Week 15.
The Packers, meanwhile, are just a half-game out of the NFC North Division lead, an accomplishment for which Parsons deserves considerable credit. However, he will not participate in the stretch run or any of the team’s playoff games, should Green Bay reach the postseason. Parsons is out for the year with an ACL tear that he suffered against the Denver Broncos last weekend.
Jones appeared on Dallas sports radio on Tuesday, December 16 and made his feelings on Parsons known just two days after what was, by far, the worst injury of the outside linebacker’s NFL career.
“I’m sad for Micah,” Jones told 1053 The Fan, per Jon Machota of The Athletic. “That’s quite a challenge. I wish him the very best on his recovery.”
Near the end of his comments, Jones spoke directly to Parsons over the airwaves.
“Micah, I wish you the very best,” Jones said.
Micah Parsons Issued Message to Packers Fans Ahead of ACL Surgery, Long Road to Rehabilitation

Parsons also went public with a message after his injury, though he issued his on social media and addressed it to the Packers fanbase.
“I may be sidelined, but I am not defeated. This injury is my greatest test — a moment God allowed to strengthen my testimony. I believe He walks with me through this storm and chose me for this fight because He knew my heart could carry it,” Parsons wrote.
“I’m deeply grateful to the Packers organization and my teammates for their unwavering support, love, and belief in me during this season,” Parsons continued. “I trust His timing, His plan, and His purpose. I will rise again.”
The typical return timeline for a simple ACL reconstruction, which is not impeded or complicated by damages to any other ligaments in the knee, is around nine months. That would put Parsons back on the field between Weeks 2 and 3 of the 2026 season, assuming a standard recovery process without any serious complications.
Packers Face Biggest Game of Season Against Bears in Week 16 Without Micah Parsons

Where the Packers (9-4-1) go from here is a tough question. The team remains the No. 7 seed in the conference and just a half-game out of first place in the NFC North Division.
The Chicago Bears (10-4) currently hold the division lead and the No. 2 seed in the NFC. Both the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks are 11-3, while the San Francisco 49ers are 10-4. But only one team can win the NFC West, meaning the other two, should they make the playoffs, will be wildcard selections.
Thus, the Bears-Packers game at Soldier Field on Saturday, December 20 is pivotal. Should Green Bay win, it will have the inside track to the division crown and the two-seed, owning tiebreaks over both Chicago and the Detroit Lions.
Should the Packers lose and the Lions (8-6) defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers at Ford Field on Sunday, Green Bay could find itself in danger of missing the playoffs altogether.
