Jets All-Pro Receives Devastating Injury News After Bucs Loss

The New York Jets have lost one of their key players for the foreseeable future.

ESPN’s Rich Cimini confirmed on social media that former All-Pro linebacker Quincy Williams is being placed on injured reserve. That means he will miss at least the next four games.

The next four games for the Jets include a road trip against the Miami Dolphins in Week 4 on Monday Night Football. In week 5, they host the Dallas Cowboys at home. Then, in Week 6, the Jets will “host” the Denver Broncos in London. Finally, the green and white host the Carolina Panthers in Week 7.

Williams will be eligible to return for the team’s Week 8 road trip to play the Cincinnati Bengals.

Some Good News and Bad News With Williams’ Injury News

The Jets stole linebacker Mark Robinson off the New England Patriots’ practice squad on Tuesday, September 23. Robinson was signed to the Jets’ 53-man roster, which meant they had to make a corresponding roster move to create space.

Williams’ being placed on IR created that roster spot for Robinson.

NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero said on social media that Williams is “expected to miss time because of the shoulder injury he suffered Sunday, per source. Not season-ending, but he’ll be down for a while.”

“The good news is that it’s not season ending. The bad news is that Williams is one of their best players, and this comes at a time when the defense is struggling,” Cimini shared on social media.
