The New York Jets offense has felt snake-bitten over the last decade with Aaron Rodgers injuring his Achilles, Zach Wilson failing to live up to expectations, and Sam Darnold finding success under center with another franchise.
Yet, one recent ranking of the Jets’ offense actually gives this talented group room for optimism in 2025.
Jets’ Offense Receives Optimistic Ranking Entering 2025 NFL Seaoson
Where many pessimistic New York Jets fans see the failed Aaron Rodgers experiment as proof of a terrible offense, Kyle Soppe of Pro Football & Sports Network sees a new dynamic for this group with Justin Fields by ranking them as the 19th best offense in the league entering the 2025 NFL season.
Soppe wrote, “Justin Fields brings a different dynamic to this unit, and a strong defense allows this offense to learn on the fly a bit. This team doesn’t need a top-10 offense to flirt with the postseason, but moving up a handful of spots will be required if they want to snap this decade-long run of disappointment.”
The name Justin Fields and the word dynamic go together like peanut butter and jelly.
Fields proved his dynamic dual threat ability with 1,143 rushing yards and rushing scores in just 15 games played back in 2022 behind a suspect offensive line and Darnell Mooney as his go-to WR back in Chicago.
There is a case to be made that playing reuniting with his college teammate Garrett Wilson and playing alongside Breece Hall in the Jets’ backfield is possibly the best situation has ever found himself in during his time in the NFL.
Soppe added, “Rodgers wasn’t what the New York Jets had hoped. New York reached double-digit defeats for a fifth consecutive season and was outscored by 66 points. Not great, but the Jets’ 19th finish in Offense+ was their first better than 27th since 2019. So … good for them?”
Garrett Wilson has managed to catch a minimum of 83 passes for 1,000 yards receiving in all three years of his NFL career. That might not sound impressive, but when you consider his quarterbacks have been veterans like Aaron Rodgers and Joe Flacco (who are in the twilight of their careers) or journeyman options like Zach Wilson, Mike White, and Trevor Siemian — then one could say he is a proven stud because of his sustained production with subpar quarterback since entering the league ahead of the 2022 NFL season.
Unfortunately, there isn’t much optimism about the rest of the Jets’ passing offense with players like Malachi Corley, Mason Taylor, and Josh Reynolds all pushing Allen Lazard for reps — which isn’t a sentence that gets many fans excited entering 2025 NFL season.
How Productive Can This New York Jets Running Game be in 2025?
The Jets’ offense may have some questions about the passing game entering the year, but this rushing attack could be a dark horse candidate to lead the league in rushing if everything falls correctly.
Fields is a dynamic dual threat weapon at quarterback, which will only help inflate rushing totals.
The Jets’ RB room is one of the more talented in the league with Breece Hall, Braelon Allen, and Isaiah Davis — who could all see action behind an offensive line that has invested first round draft capital at the tackle position the last two years with Armand Membou and Olu Fashanu that could raise the ceiling of this rushing attack significantly in 2025.
Fields is a true wild card in all of this, but the amount of top tier talent on the offensive side of the ball makes an optimistic projection feel plausible in 2025.
