New York Jets legend Nick Mangold has passed away.
The team shared the heartbreaking news on social media with a press release.
“Nick Mangold, the Jets’ celebrated center and one of the all-time greats to wear the Green & White during and after his playing career, passed away from complications of kidney disease Saturday night. He was 41,” Jets senior contributor Randy Lange posted.
Mangold leaves behind his wife, Jennifer, and their four children.

“RIP Nick Mangold. One of the brightest spots off and on the field for the Jets organization No one had a bad thing to say about him. Praying for his family and loved ones. Deserved to live for another 60+ years,” NYJ Matt posted on X previously Twitter.
“‘Don’t meet your heroes’ never applied to Nick Mangold. A true Jets legend, but an even greater person. Rest in peace, Nick. 🙏,” ESPN radio host Jake Asman posted.
“Nick was more than a legendary center,” said Jets Chairman Woody Johnson shared in a press release. “He was the heartbeat of our offensive line for a decade and a beloved teammate whose leadership and toughness defined an era of Jets football. Off the field, Nick’s wit, warmth, and unwavering loyalty made him a cherished member of our extended Jets family.”
“Nick was the embodiment of consistency, strength, and leadership,” said Jets Vice Chairman Christopher Johnson in a press release. “For over a decade, he anchored our offensive line with unmatched skill and determination, earning the respect of teammates, opponents, and fans alike. His contributions on the field were extraordinary — but it was his character, humility, and humor off the field that made him unforgettable.”
Mangold Recently Asked for Help With His Kidney Situation
On October 14, Mangold posted a statement on his social media platforms asking for help.
“In 2006, I was diagnosed with a genetic defect that has led to chronic kidney disease,” Mangold said via Jets senior reporter Eric Allen. “After a rough summer, I’m undergoing dialysis as we look for a kidney transplant. I always knew this day would come, but I thought I would have had more time.”
“Mangold, 41, said he does not have family able to donate at this time, so he reached out to fans in the hope he can find a match,” Allen added.
