Jets Listed as ‘Perfect Fit’ for Award Winning Young QB

As the New York Jets seek their quarterback soul mate this offseason, a potential partner has emerged from the shadows.

PFF’s lead NFL draft analyst, Trevor Sikkema, said Oregon QB Dante Moore is a “perfect fit” for the green and white ahead of the 2026 NFL draft.

“That is my perfect fit for the Jets sitting here at [pick] No. 3, and that is Dante Moore, the quarterback from Oregon. You could make the case that if Dante Moore and Fernando Mendoza are not on the board for them by the time they get to number three overall, the most advantageous thing for them to do is to trade back because they’re still a building team,” Sikkema explained on the Bleacher Report app.

“But if Moore is there, I really do think he is a perfect fit for what they want to do. The accuracy has been through the roof with Dante Moore. He has only grown the longer that this first year of him as a full-time starter has continued to go on. Whether it was the regular season or the College Football Playoff,” Sikkema continued.

“I’m such a big fan of how he plays the game, how he navigates the pocket, how he continues to look deep down the field, and attack vertically. I mean, the deep passing grade from him has been fantastic. A 98.9 deep passing grade from PFF’s system. That just showcases that he has so many big-time throws, so few turnover-worthy plays, and he has hit a lot of throws deep down the field. So I think Dante Moore is absolutely worth a top-three overall pick in this upcoming class for those teams that are very quarterback needy,” Sikkema said.

Is Moore Coming out This Year?

Moore, 20, has been terrific for Oregon this year. He was named a semi-finalist for the Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Player of the Year, and Davey O’Brien Award.

In 14 games this season, Moore has completed 72.9% of his passes, has thrown for 3,280 passing yards, and has a 28 touchdown to nine interception ratio.

It’s a match made in heaven. He is a quarterback. The Jets need a QB1.

However, the looming question that remains: will Moore even enter the 2026 NFL draft?

ESPN college football insider Pete Thamel provided an update on that subject matter this week.

“I think everyone just slots him in the mock drafts at one or two and just assumes that’s going to happen,” Thamel explained on “The Pat McAfee Show” via Zach Dimmitt of Sports Illustrated. “I’m not telling you it’s not, but there is a feeling at Oregon that he could stay, and he’s even said that. He said that to one of the TV crews going into the JMU game. He’s younger. [Moore has] kind of seen adversity. He’s a little bit of a slight guy. He could probably use to put on some weight … I’m not telling you he’s definitely coming back, but I do think that’s on the table.”

Jets Need Moore to Enter the Draft

The green and white can’t get the No. 1 pick. At best, the Jets can land the No. 2 overall pick with some help.

Right now, this 2026 NFL draft shapes up to be a one-quarterback class. Things can change. But as things stand, it is Fernando Mendoza and a bunch of other guys. If Moore enters that equation, things change.

That could allow the Jets to select a quarterback organically at the top or even potentially trade up for one.
