Jets Make Final Call on Garrett Wilson for Panthers Clash

The New York Jets have made a final call on wide receiver Garrett Wilson ahead of the Week 7 Carolina Panthers tilt.

Gang Green did that in the form of the inactive announcement 90 minutes before kickoff on Sunday, October 19.

Wilson was officially listed as inactive ahead of the game, meaning he will miss the first contest of his NFL career.

The rest of the players that will miss Week 7 include: cornerbacks Michael Carter II, Qwan’tez Stiggers, linebacker Cam Jones, defensive lineman Tyler Baron, tight end Jelani Woods, and offensive tackle Esa Pole.

Multiple Jets Got Fined for the Denver Broncos Game in Week 6

ESPN’s Rich Cimini shared the news on social media from the results of the Denver Broncos game:

“Week 6 fines: Andrew Beck $7,431 for unnecessary roughness (use of the helmet); Kiko Mauigoa $5,215 for unnecessary roughness (hip-drop tackle),” Cimini posted.

Jets Rule out Starter Again

Starting nickelback Michael Carter II seemed to be trending in the right direction all week.

He was a full participant in each day of practice as he went through the final stage of the NFL’s concussion protocol. Ahead of the contest, he was officially designated as “questionable.” However, on Saturday, October 18, the Jets announced on social media that they “downgraded” him to out.

Cimini said that means Jarvis Brownlee Jr will remain the starting slot defender on the Jets defense.

Content creator Harrison Glaser revealed that Brownlee was the Jets’ “highest graded defender” in Week 6. “He was excellent yesterday and only 24 years old. GREAT trade,” Glaser added.

Gang Green May Have Found a Keeper in Brownlee

“I’ll tell you, I was surprised when the Titans traded Jarvis Brownlee Jr, a second-year corner out of Louisville. Jarvis Brownlee Jr is playing like a guy who was surprised that the Titans traded away Jarvis Brownlee Jr. He was an outside guy mostly for the Titans [but] he played in the nickel in his first start in the slot for the Jets. He just played with his hair on fire for four quarters,” ESPN’s Ben Solak explained on X previously Twitter.

On his first defensive series of the game, he forced a fumble that the Jets recovered. It was the first takeaway for the Jets defense all season, and it came in Week 6.

Jets QB History

Justin Fields is the only full-time starting quarterback who hasn’t thrown an interception this season.

Cimini revealed that, “Fields has yet to throw an interception in 123 attempts. It’s the longest interception-free streak by a Jets quarterback to start a season since Mark Sanchez in 2010. That year, he began with 149 straight attempts without a pick, per ESPN Research.”

NFL Insider Reveals Surprising Jets Trade Rumors

Dianna Russini, an NFL Insider for The Athletic, revealed over the weekend that the Jets are looking to acquire ahead of the trade deadline.

The one position they are looking at is kick returner, per Russini.

Special teams have cost the team multiple wins in a season, as they haven’t had any wins to date. However, the special teams group played much better against the Broncos.
