The New York Jets have accomplished a feat that no other team in the NFL has done — and it’s a good thing.
The Jets are the only team in the NFL that has started the same five offensive linemen in every week of the season through Week 13. As a matter of fact, this is the first time the Jets have accomplished that feat as a team since 2012, the team announced.
That streak remains alive heading into the Jets’ Week 14 home tilt versus the Miami Dolphins.
Gang Green has had a recent track record of being consistently disrupted with offensive line injuries that have forced the team to shake things up.
Well, There Was One Significant Body Blow Before the Season
Days before the 2025 season got underway, the Jets endured a devastating injury in the trenches.
Alijah Vera-Tucker, a voted on team captain, tore his triceps and was ruled out for the year. He was penciled in as the starter at right guard.
This blow forced the Jets to play musical chairs. Joe Tippmann kicked out to right guard, and Josh Myers plugged in at center.
“Tippmann’s 84.0 PFF pass block grade between Weeks 7-13 ranks No. 4 among guards in the league (min. 50% snaps),” the Jets posted on social media.
Credit the Jets’ offensive linemen for their versatility and the coaches for adjusting to this new reality very quickly.
“It’s been huge, man,” left guard John Simpson said of the continuity to ESPN’s Rich Cimini. “We’ve got guys with nicks and bruises, but they go out there every day and wrap it up and continue to compete. That has O-line room has some scrappy guys in there.”
The Jets Found a Massive Building Block
There was a lot of debate ahead of the 2025 NFL draft on who the Jets should take. Based on the results of this season, that debate should be over.
Coming off Week 13, Jets offensive tackle Armand Membou was ranked the fifth-best rookie in the NFL by ESPN.
He has made all 12 starts this season. According to ESPN, Membou has a “91.1% pass block win rate, 78.8% run block win rate.”
“For Jets fans searching for something good to hold onto this season, look no further than the 21-year-old right tackle. The first draft pick of the Aaron Glenn-Darren Mougey regime has been a bright spot on this team and instills optimism that the new leadership might have elite scouting sense. For a team that traded away two cornerstone players this season, Membou looks to be a foundation for the next Jets era. That’s important since a new quarterback is on the horizon,” Kalyn Kahler wrote for ESPN.
Jets Have Created a Window, Now They Have to Take Advantage of It
ESPN radio host Jake Asman joined me on “The Manchild Show with Boy Green Digital.” During our conversation, Asman said the Jets have a unique advantage.
Most NFL teams that have a poor record don’t have quality offensive tackles to protect their quarterback. The Jets just so happen to have a 22-year-old left tackle (Olumuyiwa Fashanu) and a 21-year-old right tackle (Membou).
In 2026, Membou has a $1 million base salary, and Fashanu has a $1 million base salary, per Spotrac.
According to Over The Cap, the highest-paid left tackle in football is Rashawn Slater of the Los Angeles Chargers ($28.5 million per year). The highest-paid right tackle in the NFL is Tristan Wirfs of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($28.12 million per year), per OTC.
While other teams are spending bucco bucks for their premium protection, the Jets are getting away with paying pennies on the dollar.
The Jets better spend their bonus money wisely because it could make a huge difference.
