The New York Jets may be 0-3, but they are feeling good after putting together an encouraging outing in Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While they ultimately suffered a 29-27 loss, the Jets staged a late rally in the fourth quarter that very nearly earned them a shocking upset victory over the undefeated Bucs.
Instead, they suffered their third straight loss, and now they have some injury issues to deal with heading into Week 4. With reinforcements needed on the defensive side of the ball, that led New York’s front office to pull off a trade with the Tennessee Titans for one of their starting cornerbacks, Jarvis Brownlee.
Jets Acquire Jarvis Brownlee in Trade with Titans
Brownlee was a fifth-round pick for the Titans in the 2024 NFL Draft, and he ended up playing in all 17 games for the team as a rookie, 14 of which were starts. During his time on the field, Brownlee racked up 75 tackles, one interception, and nine pass deflections, which isn’t all that bad considering he was unexpectedly thrust into a starting role.
In 2025, Brownlee once again earned a starting role, picking up 17 tackles and one pass deflection in his first two games of the season. Brownlee missed Tennessee’s Week 3 loss against the Indianapolis Colts with an ankle injury, and now, he finds himself joining the Jets defense that is dealing with a slew of injuries.
Star linebacker Quincy Williams is headed to the injured reserve for New York, while Sauce Gardner and Tony Adams are both dealing with their own injuries in the secondary. With that in mind, the Jets decided to add some depth at cornerback, as they parted with a sixth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft in order to bring Brownlee and a 2026 seventh-round pick to town.
“TRADE: The Jets are acquiring Titans CB Jarvis Brownlee Jr. and a 2026 7th-round pick for a 2026 6th-rounder, per source,” Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported in a post on X.
Jets Still Looking for First Win of 2025 Campaign in Week 4

If Gardner ends up being forced to miss time, the Jets could immediately slot Brownlee into the starting lineup, although as noted above, he’s also dealing with his own injury issues. The hope is that Gardner can suit up for Week 4, but with his status up in the air early in the week, New York is taking matters into its own hands, adding a talented young corner in Brownlee who could help them even when Gardner is healthy and on the field.
At the end of the day, the main goal for the Jets right now is to earn their first win of the 2025 campaign, and they will have a great shot to do that in Week 4, as they will take on the Miami Dolphins, who are also winless through their first four games. With this game being set for Monday Night Football, one of these teams will earn its first victory, while the other will lose its fourth straight game to fall to 0-4 on the season.
