Jets’ Week 1 Injury Outlooks for Sauce Gardner & Others Revealed

With the 2025 preseason in the books, the New York Jets‘ focus now shifts to preparing for Week 1. A September 7 outing against the Pittsburgh Steelers will be here before anyone knows it, and head coach Aaron Glenn has plenty of work to do in the meantime.

Some of that is on the roster front, whereas other developments simply involve waiting on injured players to finish the recovery process.

Fortunately for Gang Green, Glenn had some pleasant news on the latter front on Monday.

Aaron Glenn Drops Good News for Sauce Gardner & Other Jets for Week 1

Speaking to the media on August 25, Glenn delivered updates on a multitude of players. All of quarterback Tyrod Taylor (knee), cornerback Sauce Gardner (calf) and running back Isaiah Davis (ankle) are tracking to be good for the regular-season opener.

“I would say, like Tyrod, I think he’s on track,” Glenn said. “Sauce is on track. Isaiah, he’s on track. I feel really, really good with the guys that were injured and where they’re at right now. Obviously, they still have a protocol they have to go through as far as getting themselves ready, but I do feel good about those guys.”

That also applies to wide receiver Allen Lazard (shoulder).

“Same with Lazard,” Glenn said. “Same with Lazard.”

This is certainly tremendous news for the Jets. Gardner, the highest-profile player in the group, carries the most weight in regards to his presence. The superstar corner got kicked during an August practice, but Glenn reassured fans that it wasn’t anything serious. He did the same with Taylor, who underwent an arthroscopic procedure to clean up his knee ahead of Week 1.

Davis played in New York’s preseason opener, recording 6 rush attempts for 14 yards and an 11-yard reception. The aforementioned ankle injury kept him on the shelf for the second and third outings. Lazard had 2 catches for 17 yards in the preseason before missing time with his shoulder ailment.
