Jimmy Butler Sends Strong Message After Warriors’ Loss to Bucks

The Golden State Warriors couldn’t find their rhythm Thursday night, falling 120–110 to the Milwaukee Bucks in a frustrating defeat.

Even without Giannis Antetokounmpo, who sat out due to left knee soreness, Milwaukee controlled the pace and energy from start to finish. Golden State’s stars did their part — Jimmy Butler, Stephen Curry, and Jonathan Kuminga each topped 20 points — but the team never looked fully engaged.

After the game, Butler didn’t overcomplicate things. His solution was as simple as it was telling.

“Get back to winning and it’ll be flowers and daisies in no time,” Butler told ESPN’s Anthony Slater.

Warriors Struggle With Fatigue and Focus

Head coach Steve Kerr echoed that the performance was far from Golden State’s standard. He pointed to mental and physical fatigue as major factors behind the sluggish outing.

“It looked to me like fatigue,” Kerr told The Athletic’s Nick Friedell. “Mental, physical fatigue. It did not look like our team out there. Our spacing was bad. It didn’t feel like we had our usual pop. I thought Milwaukee was brilliant.”

The Warriors looked flat across the board. Their usual spacing and pace were off, and the defensive effort wasn’t sharp enough to contain Milwaukee’s balanced attack. The loss snapped their short winning streak and served as an early reminder of how thin the margin for error can be.

Golden State Outplayed by Ryan Rollins’ Career Night

Bucks guard Ryan Rollins was the unexpected story of the night. The 23-year-old posted a career-high 32 points and eight assists, shooting 13-of-21 from the field and 5-of-7 from three. His quickness and poise gave Golden State problems all night.

“Watching him on film before tonight, you see he’s being very calculated on how to use his speed and create space and get downhill,” Curry told The Athletic’s Eric Nehm. “Shooting shots when he’s open. It seems like the game has slowed down enough when he’s making proper reads.

“You obviously saw it tonight. He played fearless out there … I’m happy for him, but I’m also pissed off.”

Curry’s reaction summed up the mood in the locker room — respect for Rollins’ effort, but frustration with how the Warriors allowed him to dominate.

The Warriors’ Bottom Line

The Warriors are now 4–2, still in solid shape early in the season. Thursday’s loss won’t define them, but it exposed how quickly energy and execution can slip.

Butler’s postgame comment wasn’t just a soundbite. It reflected the team’s mindset — focus on the next one, get back to what they do best, and keep perspective.

A win on Saturday against the Indiana Pacers would turn things around fast. As Butler put it, “flowers and daisies” come easy when you’re winning.
