Joe Mixon has been a member of the Houston Texans in name and spirit only this season, as he remains sidelined by a still undisclosed foot and/or ankle injury. However, he has also paid close attention to what the team has done.
That includes the Texans’ critical road victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on “Sunday Night Football” in Week 14.
Mixon was as outspoken as he has been about the Texans, including C.J. Stroud.
Texans’ Joe Mixon Had Strong Words for C.J. Stroud, Teammates During Chiefs Game
GettyC.J. Stroud #7 of the Houston Texans leaves the field after defeating the Indianapolis Colts.
Mixon took to social media early during the Texans’ eventual 20-10 win over the Chiefs, first celebrating a connection between Stroud and Nico Collins, posting on X on December 7, “YEAH 7!!!” and “TMU 12!!”
Later, Mixon hyped Stroud, posting, “THERE YOU GO 7!!!” and telling him to “BE GREAT!!”
Stroud completed 48.3% of his passes, but he threw for 203 yards and 1 touchdown with 0 interceptions in the win. Collins had four receptions for 121 yards.
Mixon was supposed to be a dual-threat weapon for Stroud. Without him, the Texans turned to Nick Chubb and rookie fourth-round draft pick Woody Marks. Mixon celebrated Stroud’s touchdown pass, which went to Marks, posting, “Yes Lawd!
“Checkdown 4 touchdown$!”
After Chubb exited during the second quarter with a rib injury, Marks got banged up in the fourth. Their statuses remain up in the air ahead of the Texans’ first practice in Week 15.
The Texans turned to Dare Ogunbowale in Chubb and Marks’ absences during the game, and the should-be fourth-stringer scored a touchdown. Mixon celebrated that, too, saying in another post, “AHHHH LETS GO 33!!!!! TD!!! [triumphant emojis]”
Joe Mixon Praises Texans Defense

He had plenty of praise for the Texans’ defense and the team in general. The Texans harassed Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes into 2 sacks and 3 interceptions in what was a career-worst performance for the two-time MVP.
“YEAH 5!!!” Mixon posted after Jalen Pitre’s pick on a pass intended for JuJu Smith-Schuster that the Texans’ safety deflected to himself.
“TIPS & OVERTHROWS [eyes looking emoji].”
Texans cornerback Kamari Lassiter intercepted one of Mahomes’ passes, intended for Marquise Brown, during the fourth quarter. The takeaway prompted Mixon to post, “IT’S ANOTHER [closed book emoji] 4 MY YOUNG HOUND [triumphant and fire emojis].”
After the Texans’ third interception, which linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair snagged, Mixon said, “AGENT 0!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
“IF YOU AIN’T WITH HOUSTON!!!!” Mixon said in his final post of the game.
Joe Mixon’s Status Remains Uncertain

When NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported in November that Mixon was expected to miss the rest of the regular season on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury (NFI) list, the Texans star pushed back on what he suggested was false information.
“Now, I get everyone’s looking for splash news & clickbait… but I’m just curious, Ian how do you know more about me than me? [confused face emoji],” Mixon posted on X on November 20.
“@peterjschaffer [Mixon’s agent] get yo mans bro.”
The Texans have not provided much clarity on the situation. Texans general manager Nick Caserio noted the uncertainty surrounding Mixon. Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans cited the two-time Pro Bowler’s right to privacy amid the ordeal.
The response to Rapoport’s reporting was as much as Mixon, who has a history of foot and ankle issues, has said about the injury.
