Jones, 37, insisted he’d be paid “f**k you money‘ for the bout, a demand many thought would scupper the mouthwatering melee.
He recently came to terms with the UFC brass and has since revealed to an MMA legend that the fight will take place “soon”.
Former heavyweight champ and UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman tweeted: “I ran across the Champ at Dirty Boxing.
“He is the GOAT. He will be fighting Aspinall soon. We are so brothers. God is great. HammerHouse4Life.”
Jones’ apparent revealing of the timeline for his clash with Aspinall comes just days after UFC CEO & President Dana White claimed the fight is “DONE“.
He told TNT Sports: “It’s going to happen. “It’s done, but it’s not done.
“Not done enough to sit right here now and announce it and give you a date.
“But the fight’s going to happen. It’s just a matter of getting it signed now.
“If we pull this off and actually make the fight, announce it and start leading up to it.
“This will be the biggest heavyweight fight in UFC history.”
Aspinall further teased an imminent fight announcement by sharing a photo of himself with UFC CBO Hunter Campbell to his Instagram and X pages with “stay tuned” as the accompanying caption.
SunSport understands the UFC brass had targeted Jones vs Aspinall for UFC 317, which takes place on June 28 in Las Vegas.
But recent reports have claimed Jones wants at least SIX MONTHS to prepare for the Wigan warrior.
Former long-reigning 205lbs king Jones hasn’t fought since his brutal spinning-back kick KO of Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 last November.
Aspinall was last in action last July at UFC 304 in Manchester, where he obliterated Curtis Blaydes in 60 seconds to avenge his 2022 loss to the American.
