JON JONES and Tom Aspinall have finally “AGREED” a date for their heavyweight showdown, it’s been claimed.

A mammoth unification bout between the interim and undisputed champions has been in the works since last November.

Jones’ demands to be paid “f**k you money” initially put the bout in jeopardy but the MMA legend came to terms with the UFC brass last month.

And UFC insider and former title challenger Chael Sonnen has claimed the eagerly-anticipated dust-up has been finalised.

During a recent episode of Good Guy / Bad Guy, he said: “I am confident enough to tell you the fight is done.

“That fight is agreed all the way down to the date. Jon Jones did NOT duck this fight.

“I wish he did, I’d love to bury him.”

Sonnen’s revelation comes just days after Brit bruiser Aspinall teased an imminent announcement.

The Wigan warrior said in a video on his YouTube channel: “I know everyone wants fight news.

“But I do know what’s happening now.

“I have been sworn to secrecy for a little bit, so stay tuned… but there will be news coming, hopefully very soon.”

Jones himself teased an incoming announcement late last month, telling UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman that his clash with Aspinall will take place “soon”.

The pair’s respective updates came after UFC supremo Dana White insisted the “biggest heavyweight fight” in the promotion’s history WILL happen this year.

He told TNT Sports: “It’s going to happen. “It’s done, but it’s not done.

“Not done enough to sit right here now and announce it and give you a date. “But the fight’s going to happen.

“It’s just a matter of getting it signed now.

“If we pull this off and actually make the fight, announce it and start leading up to it.

“This will be the biggest heavyweight fight in UFC history.”

Former long-reigning light-heavyweight king Jones hasn’t set foot inside the cage since his brutal spinning-back kick KO of Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 last November.

Aspinall, meanwhile, was last in action last July at UFC 304 in Manchester, where he decimated Curtis Blaydes in 60 seconds to avenge his 2022 loss to the American.
