Jorginho has agreed a deal to leave Arsenal at the end of the season, according to reports.

The Italian midfielder has made 72 appearances for the Gunners since completing a £12m move from London rivals Chelsea in 2023.

Jorginho was a key player across his five years at Stamford Bridge, helping Chelsea win the Champions League and Europa League while reaching multiple FA and EFL Cup finals.

The 33-year-old has largely been a squad player at Arsenal but did make 36 appearances last season, helping Mikel Arteta’s side challenge for the Premier League title.

Jorginho has only started six league games this season, playing back-up to fellow midfielders Declan Rice, Thomas Partey and Mikel Merino.

His contract at the Emirates Stadium will expire at the end of the season and Arsenal have been looking to bring in a new midfielder rather than give Jorginho a new deal, with Martin Zubimendi set to join from Real Sociedad.

While Arsenal have let Jorginho’s contract run down, they blocked him from leaving during the January transfer window, rejecting an approach from Brazilian side Flamengo.

The Euro 2020 winner admitted last month he would be excited at the prospect of playing in Brazil and has now signed a pre-contract with Flamengo, according to reports in Italy.

It is claimed Jorginho will link up with Flamengo in the summer, ending an eight-year stay in the Premier League.

Discussing his future at Arsenal earlier in the month, Jorginho said: ‘My contract is until June and my goal now is to think about the next game, which is in three days. There’s not much to think about, you know?

‘Things happen very quickly in football, things can happen overnight, but my mind is on the next game.

‘Football is a box of surprises, as we all know, but my goal is to think about the next game. I don’t even look, because it always happens.

‘Every window that opens is always crazy, with a lot of information, a lot of things, a lot of talk.

‘But if you stop to think about all the talk you always have, then you end up wasting a lot of energy and it ends up affecting your work where you are.

‘So my goal, as I said before, is to focus on where I am, which is here today, so that’s it.’

Asked if a move to Brazil could be on the cards in the future, Jorginho replied: ‘It’s a possibility, yes, in the future, it’s a possibility.

‘As I’ve already mentioned, I have never played professionally in Brazil so it would be an incredible experience for me.

‘So this door is also open, obviously. Keep all the doors open and calmly decide what to do in the future.’

Jorginho was left on the bench on Sunday as Arsenal thrashed Manchester City 5-1 to close the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool to six points.
