Jose Mourinho tipped for shock first international manager’s job – but Carlo Ancelotti also in running for role

JOSE MOURINHO has been tipped to take over as manager of Brazil, according to reports.

The Portuguese boss is currently in charge of Fenerbahce – the 11th job of his career.

He has overseen 30 wins in 48 games but looks set to miss out on the Super Lig title to rivals Galatasaray.

Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to manage at international level and reiterated that aspiration in December.

His dream could come true soon amid reports linking him with the Brazil job.

Mourinho is part of a four-man shortlist for the role, claim Globo.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is also on Brazil‘s wishlist and remains their dream appointment, according to the report.

While Jorge Jesus and Abel Ferreira – two more Portuguese managers – are of interest.

Brazil are in search of a new manager after sacking Dorival Junior last month.

He lasted just 14 months in the dugout after winning just seven out of 16 matches in charge.

Ancelotti was linked before Dorival’s appointment but his contract situation at Real Madrid prevented talks from progressing, with the Italian tied down to the Bernabeu until summer 2026.

Jesus is another favourite for the job but he will take Palmeiras to the Club World Cup this summer.

That could present an opportunity for Mourinho to take over the reigns, with the 62-year-old admitting international football appeals to him.

He said: “I want to play a European Championship or a World Cup and unite a country around a team, as I have already done many times with the clubs.

“I want to do it for football and what this sport represents. It will be incredible.”
