Bellingham, the younger brother of England star Jude, joined the Black Cats from Birmingham last summer.

After signing a long-term deal with the club, he scored seven goals in 47 appearances across all competitions.

His performances attracted interest from the Premier League following Sunderland’s 16th place finish in the Championship.

However, Bellingham is now set to stay at the Stadium of Light.

Fabrizio Romano reports that the teenager plans to remain at the club for at least one more season.

Crystal Palace were amongst the sides showing an interest in Bellingham, having pushed to complete a deal in recent weeks.

He has instead decided to put his trust in the club’s ambitious project, the report adds.

Sunderland are bidding to end their eight-year absence from the Premier League this term.

Last season’s bottom half finish followed a top six spot and a play-off semi-final defeat to Luton in 2022/23.

Bellingham is also set to feature under a new manager during the upcoming campaign.

Frenchman Regis Le Bris has been appointment by Sunderland this summer.

The 48-year-old has signed a three-year deal following his departure from Lorient.
