Justin Jefferson Delivers Honest Message After Vikings Lose

October 23 was a tough night for the Minnesota Vikings, as they fell 37-10 to the Los Angeles Chargers on “Thursday Night Football” at SoFi Stadium.

Minnesota didn’t have much to build on in the loss, and the team will need to figure out what went wrong and move forward quickly. After starting the 2025 NFL season at 3-2, the Vikings have now dropped back-to-back games, falling to 3-4.

Amid the losing streak, Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson spoke about what the team has done wrong over their last two games against the Philadelphia Eagles and Chargers, which have led to losses.

“I mean just losing the way we lost,” Jefferson said postgame to reporters. “Coming off last week, just trying to get that quick turnaround and get that bad taste out, and we’re left with the same taste. So, it’s just frustrating going out there and performing the way we’ve been performing, not putting up points, and not getting stops. That’s all a team effort, and we’re just not doing enough.”

Can the Vikings Snap Their Losing Streak?

Jefferson is one of the leaders on the team, and so he will have to lead the way with his words and actions to help the team snap their skid in Week 9 against the Detroit Lions. The Vikings star noted what he must do on his part to ensure that the losing streak doesn’t hit three games.

“Of course, keep our head up and of course attack what’s in front of us,” Jefferson added. “To not allow the adversity and the losses to hinder us or get in our way. It’s not about reflecting on the bad things or the loss. This is about what we’re going to do moving forward, this upcoming practice, this upcoming week, and just trying to attack it head-on and see where it takes us.”

Following back-to-back performances of 100-plus receiving yards against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns, Jefferson has yet to cross over the triple-digit number in the two losses.

If the Vikings want to end their losing skid against the Lions, they will need a big game from Jefferson. If the star wideout doesn’t have a big performance, then it will be a challenging game for Minnesota.

Vikings’ Kevin O’Connell Gets Honest

After the loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell was candid, acknowledging that the Chargers were better than his team in every aspect of the game.

“We got outplayed,” O’Connell said (h/t Pro Football Talk). “We got outcoached; we did not — there are no excuses. Injuries, short week, whatever it is, that is not in any way, shape, or form our standard of what we want to put on the field, and we’ve got — as I told our team — we’ve got an opportunity in front of us where we need to own this.

“This is not a bury the tape kind of time for our organization. This is a ‘watch it, view it, own it’. Every coach, every player. And it starts with me. I did not have our team prepared to play.”
