Justin Jefferson Sends Emphatic Video Message After Vikings’ Comeback

The Minnesota Vikings executed a fourth-quarter comeback to best the Cleveland Browns in London Sunday, October 5, and star wide receiver Justin Jefferson didn’t try to hide how important the victory truly was after the game.

Jefferson took to social media and sent an emphatic message to the fans and the NFL in an animated video post.

“Come on now! Don’t count us out now! We always get this dub in London! Always! Let’s go!” Jefferson yelled into the camera.

After the thrill of the victory mellowed a bit, Jefferson spoke with NFL Network about the game.

“We have the playmakers in this room,” Jefferson said of himself and teammate Jordan Addison, who made the game-winning touchdown catch. “All we gotta do is just feed us and let us go eat.”

Jefferson then spoke to the Vikings faithful directly.

“We have the best fan base in the league. They always travel, they always show us support,” he said. “I love em’ so much.”

Jefferson finished the day with seven receptions for 123 yards, both of which led all pass-catchers in the game for both teams. The NFL Network broadcast pointed out that he has now gained more receiving yards in international contests than any other player in league history.

But as great as Jefferson was, it was Addison who made the deciding play of the game. After sitting for the entirety of the first quarter, which was a decision made by head coach Kevin O’Connell, Addison entered the action and finished the day with five catches for 41 yards.

The last grab he made was a 12-yard TD catch with 25 seconds left on the clock. It capped a 10-play, 80-yard drive that took two minutes and 40 seconds to complete and gave the Vikings a 21-17 lead, which ended up as the final score on Sunday afternoon in London.

Carson Wentz May Continue Starting After Vikings’ Much-Needed Bye Week

Minnesota now returns to the United States after a two-week jaunt to Europe, which affords the organization the distinction as the first team in league history to play back-to-back overseas games. The first came in Dublin last weekend and ended in a three-point loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Vikings enter their bye week and won’t take the field again until they host the Philadelphia Eagles on October 19. As of this writing, the Eagles are undefeated at 4-0.

Minnesota, meanwhile, is 3-2 and catching their week off at an excellent time. The health of the offensive line is a nightmare. The Vikings entered the game down three of the unit’s five starters, then saw left tackle Christian Darrisaw head to the locker room mid-game with an injury.

Quarterback Carson Wentz also sustained a shoulder injury in the first half, but he was able to return to action and lead Minnesota to victory on the strength of 25-of-34 passing for 236 yards and a touchdown.

Wentz is now 2-1 in relief of second-year starter J.J. McCarthy, who continues to battle a high ankle sprain. McCarthy will potentially be ready to play in Week 7 against Philadelphia, as that will have allowed him five weeks of rehabilitation time.

However, it remains unclear if McCarthy will immediately get his starting job back, or if O’Connell will roll with Wentz given Minnesota’s relative success to this point with the veteran under center.
