Keenan Allen Speaks on Jim Harbaugh’s ‘Aura’ Leading the Chargers

T

he Los Angeles Chargers are rolling. Winning their fourth straight game in week 16, the Chargers improve to 11-4 and are not only in the playoffs for the second straight season, but they are one step closer to taking home the AFC West crown for the first time since 2009 after the Denver Broncos lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Thanks to a good offense and an even better defense, the Chargers look like a complete time primed for a Super Bowl run.

But a large reason for the Chargers’ resurgence over the last couple of season is head coach Jim Harbaugh. Hired at the start of the ’24 season, Harbaugh has a strong resume of winning, guiding the San Francisco 49ers to three straight NFC title game appearances and a Super Bowl before leading rebuilding Michigan into a national championship winner. And in Los Angeles, Harbaugh has been no different, re-instilling a winning culture to the Chargers. After the Chargers latest win, veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen spoke on his coach and what he has brought to the organization that is still in search of its first ever Super Bowl.

Allen Speaks on Harbaugh’s ‘Aura’

Even though the Chargers’ record is as good as it is, the 2025 season has not been an easy one. Dealing with a rash of injuries, the Chargers have needed to find ways to navigate without some of their most important players. Still, the Chargers have not skipped a beat and it is thanks to Harbaugh’s leadership and– as Allen puts it– aura.

“He just has that aura, just that winning culture, he has that winning feel to him,” Allen said. “I think everybody just believes in it.”

Harbaugh has won everywhere he has been, taking teams that were struggling before he got there, and turning them into perennial contenders. And if Harbaugh can end this season with a Super Bowl win, he will join an exclusive list of football coaches who have won both a national championship and a Super Bowl.

Chargers’ Season So Far

Since their week 12 bye week, the Chargers have been on a tear, winning four straight and looking like a team that can’t be stopped. But arguably the team’s biggest star during this four-game streak has been quarterback Justin Herbert, who had a 300 yard and multi touchdown game in the Chargers’ week 16 win– adding another big game to another dominant season.

“Just how he runs the offense, [he’s] much more composed, much more confident,” Allen said on Herbert. “He’s seeing things before they happen, and he’s making the right play over and over again.”

With still two games left to play, the Chargers need to win out if they want to win the division. Every game matters even more now, which is why the Chargers cannot afford to let any opportunities to gain ground slip away from them.

“It’s just us locking in, executing and taking advantage of our opportunities,” Allen said. “Trying not to leave anything short, trying to keep everything in front of us and making sure we take care of our part.”
