The NBA Finals just finished up on Sunday June 22, 2025, but before the offseason even started, there was a massive trade that shook the NBA.
On the morning of Sunday June 22, 2025, hours before the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Indiana Pacers in Game 7 of the NBA Finals to win the 2025 NBA Championship, Shams Charania broke the shocking news.
The Phoenix Suns traded Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, and five second round picks.
The trade produced a variety of reactions across the league from NBA fans. Many fans, especially Rockets fans, were excited to see Durant team up with a young, dynamic Houston team.
But one very famous NBA fan was not excited one bit. Bay Area rapper Lil B took to X to post a few disparaging messages to Kevin Durant Sunday June 22, 2025.
“Kevin Durant you still owe me that 1 on 1 you ain’t ready real NBA i really love basketball and hoop I mean that! Whatever basketball court you want ! And yo raps is trash,” Lil B wrote.
It’s unclear what triggered the posts, whether it was Durant’s trade to Houston or his old team, the Thunder, winning the finals.
“Kevin Durant really ain’t bout no basketball s—,” Lil B wrote in a second post.
Lil B also reposted hundreds of fan replies to his original post about Kevin Durant, flooding X with an unbelievable amount of Kevin Durant hate content on his personal X page.
KD and Lil B Have Been Beefing for Almost 15 Years
The beef between Kevin Durant and Lil B goes back to January 29, 2011, when Durant made a post on X (then known as Twitter) with a negative opinion about Lil B’s music.
“I tried to listen to Lil B and my mind wouldn’t let me do it….can’t believe this guy is relevant,” Durant wrote.
Lil B challenged Durant to a game of one-on-one, which Durant considered before eventually ignoring him. After a few months, Lil B issued a famous “curse” on Durant in a post on X May 25, 2011.
“KEVIN DURANT WILL NEVER WIN THE TITLE AFTER HE SAID “LIL B” IS A WACK RAPPER,” Lil B wrote.
Lil B also famously released a diss track about KD in 2014.
The “curse” didn’t hold up of course: after Durant joined the Golden State Warriors, Lil B’s hometown team, the rapper lifted the “curse”. The Warriors proceeded to win back-to-back NBA titles in 2017 and 2018. It seemed that Durant and Lil B’s beef was squashed.
But in 2025, it seems the beef is actually alive and well.
KD’s Responds, Will They Finally Play One-On-One?
As evidenced by Lil B’s posts, he is still looking to play Durant in a one-on-one game of basketball.
But based on Durant’s response in the early morning hours of Monday January 23, 2025, he is not interested in playing Lil B in basketball because he is 100% certain that he would win.
“U wouldn’t be able to get a shot off on me lil one, you was once a thing, I’m still that,” Durant said in a post on X.
Durant also claimed that Lil B has been messaging him asking him to feature on one of his rap songs, which Durant is also uninterested in.
While NBA fans would love to see Durant and Lil B finally collaborate for a game of one-on-one or a rap song, Durant’s response makes it pretty clear that is very unlikely.
