The Cincinnati Bengals travel to the great state of New Jersey to face the New York Jets on Sunday at 1 P.M. The game will be broadcast on CBS local, Red Zone Channel and any other channel that shows lackluster football games.

TRIVIA TIME:
The Bengals and Jets each spent a stupid-high draft pick (one was first overall in 1995, one was second overall in 1990…I’m giving you too many hints) in the 1990s on two busts who played the same position from the same school. Who were they? What position? What school?
ANSWER:
1990, New York Jets, running back, Blair Thomas, Penn State
1995, Cincinnati Bengals, running back, Ki-Jana Carter, Penn State
JUST FYI:
The Chicago Bears qualify for this question too.
Justin Fields will start against the Cincinnati Bengals
The Jets have been looking to move on from starting quarterback Justin Fields for a couple of weeks now and they finally were ready to make the change to Tyrod Taylor. However, Taylor has been battling a knee injury and was asked this week what he felt for this game.
“I have no anticipation for it,” Taylor said. “My mind and my sole focus is being available and ready to be able to lead this team when called upon.”
Well, Taylor has officially been ruled out and Fields will start.
Taylor, who shouldn’t miss too much time, explained how he got hurt last week.
“I took a helmet shot to the knee last game,” Taylor said Thursday. “Yeah, just taking it day-by-day, listening to the trainers. They’ve done a great job of putting me through rehab and getting just good mobility back into it.”
Logan Wilson requests a trade from the Cincinnati Bengals
File this under: Things the Bengals didn’t need this week. As it is, the Bengals defense is downright awful. They rank 31st in the NFL in yards per game with 394.4 and dead last in the league with 214 points given up.
So, it’s not great news that a seven-game starter on defense requested a trade this week. Logan Wilson is a sixth-year linebacker who has seen his role reduced a bit in recent weeks. While he starts, rookies Barrett Carter and Demetrius Knight Jr. have gotten the majority of the team’s defensive snaps.
For what it’s worth, Bengals head coach said that things have been fine with Logan since the trade request.
“He’s handled it really well,” Taylor said Friday. “He’s done a great job with the young linebackers. He’s continued to be in a leadership role in our team. I know that this situation, it can be difficult and challenging. Just keep focusing on being here, working for us, trying to find ways to win.”
Carter said that despite Wilson’s diminished role on the defense, the former third-round pick still been extremely helpful.
“It hasn’t changed our relationship at all,” Carter told ESPN this week. “I still lean on him heavily with stuff, still ask him questions every single day. He’s been a great leader, just like the man he is since the day I got here.”
