Kings Fan Calls Out Zach LaVine After Heated Courtside Exchange

Just when things were starting to get better for the Sacramento Kings, Zach LaVine got into a heated argument with a fan. The moment between the player and the fan went viral on social media, with many assuming that it was due to the fan losing a bet.

However, the fan named Devlin Carter has broken his silence to give his side of the story and clear the air on what happened last Wednesday. Carter is a season ticket holder and is a passionate supporter of the Kings. He shared a video on his Instagram account and explained what really happened between him and LaVine.

“After the sixth time Zach LaVine leaves his man wide open for a three, Doug Christie calls a timeout. They come over to the bench. I say, ‘Yo, we don’t pay to watch you not play defense.’ Then Zach LaVine looks at me and says, ‘Then go home, n****,’” Carter said, via ClutchPoints.

Carter wasn’t cool with paying his hard-earned money to watch a player not give his best. He added:

“I started letting him have it. I was like, ‘No, I pay to be here! You go home! You’re getting paid over $40 million. You only got eight points, and we’re in the fourth quarter. You didn’t show up!’”

Carter did express his sincerest apologies to all the Kings staffers and security personnel that he gave a hard time during the incident. He further called out LaVine for not showing the effort worth what the franchise was paying him, which is exactly $47,499,660 this season.

Bulls Fans Familiar With LaVine

Many Chicago Bulls fans on Devin Carter’s Instagram video sympathized with the Sacramento Kings. They knew the struggle of watching Zach LaVine be very good at times and then vanish on the defensive end immediately. They even rejoiced when LaVine was traded to the Kings as part of the De’Aaron Fox deal last season with the San Antonio Spurs.

Quinn Everts of Pippen Ain’t Easy did the same thing as a Bulls fan a week before Carter blew his gasket on LaVine.

“Bulls fans have known for years that, despite his massive contract, LaVine can’t be relied on nightly to be a team’s No. 1 scorer. Now, the Sacramento Kings are learning that in real time as their season slips into despair — a familiar place for the franchise and its fans. I get no joy out of saying that. In fact, I get sad. The good people of Sac Town don’t deserve this,” Everts wrote.

The good news for the Kings fans is the franchise is reportedly planning a firesale before the trade deadline, according to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line. But if the Kings can’t trade LaVine, he could become a free agent next summer if he opts out of the final year of his contract.

Bucks Interested in LaVine

According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Milwaukee Bucks are interested in trading for Zach LaVine. The Bucks need a legitimate No. 2 option on offense behind Giannis Antetokoummpo, and LaVine seems to be the perfect candidate.

Scotto also mentioned that one player who could get sent to Sacramento is Kyle Kuzma, who invested in a new volleyball league with Kings owner Vivek Ranadive. Other players the Kings are expected to shop are DeMar DeRozan, Domantas Sabonis and Keon Ellis.
