Kipp Popert Makes History With Another G4D Tour Win

Kipp Popert stamped his authority on Wentworth Golf Club like no one else this week: he claimed his fourth straight G4D Tour at BMW PGA Championship title, a feat that’s fast becoming legendary. The Englishman, ranked world No. 1 among golfers with disabilities, opened with a scorching seven-under-par 66, sprinting out to a seven-stroke lead overnight. A calm, controlled 71 in the final round sealed a commanding nine-shot victory at nine under overall.

Popert didn’t just win; he dominated. Arriving at Wentworth fresh off a victory at the Amgen Irish Open, his resurgence after missing the season’s first half due to foot surgery sent a clear message: he’s back–harder and hungrier than ever.

“It was a really slow start to the year with the operation…,” Popert said.”I am just loving being able to do what I love again. I am clearly playing well, so I am very pleased.”

Resilience Meets Swing Mastery

Beyond the stats and trophies lies a story of grit. Popert’s victory follows his 12th operation, a grueling journey that would have sidelined many. His words cut through the headlines: “People who have been out for whatever reason understand what it is like to come back and you just appreciate everything a lot more. It was my 12th operation so I have had practice with that.”

Having cerebral palsy hasn’t slowed him; it’s fueled him. He now boasts 15 G4D Tour titles, both in individual and team formats, since the tour began in 2022. His form isn’t just consistent; it’s untouchable, even after adversity.

His victory at Wentworth was as clinical as it was commanding. A first-round 66 set the tone, highlighted by precise iron play and a putter that refused to cool off. He finished the round with a -7.

The second round was all about control. Popert signed for a 71, managing his lead rather than chasing fireworks. Two birdies and a single bogey kept the round steady, and when the final putt dropped, his nine-under-par total put him nine shots clear of the field.

“It is almost like a home event for me as I only live an hour or so away,” Popert said. “Being a Liverpool FC fan, it feels to me like my Anfield in a way, and I love the course. My caddy and I study it closely and we know it like the backs of our hands.”

The Field Fights Back

It wasn’t a solo parade, though Popert made it look like one. Australia’s Lachlan Wood stood out among the rest, closing in with a final-round 72 that included an eagle and three birdies to finish one under for solo second.

Spain’s Juan Postigo Arce staged a comeback too. An opening 80 was rough, but a composed 72 on day two lifted him to six over and third place. And then there’s Issa Nlareb–a figure of courage–surviving bacterial meningitis, losing both legs and nearly all fingers on his right hand, yet finishing sixth on ten over, with rounds of 78 both days. His story is a reminder that golf (and life) is about grit, not just scorecards.

What’s Next for the Tour?

Popert’s win guarantees him a spot in the season-ending G4D Tour at Rolex Grand Final in Mallorca–a showdown with the tour’s elite and a chance to cement his legacy even further.

Meanwhile, the G4D Tour rolls on next week to the FedEx Open de France at Golf de Saint-Nom-La-Bretèche, keeping the momentum alive across Europe’s adaptive golf scene.

“Honestly, I am just enjoying golf a lot more after not being able to walk at the start of the year,” Popert said. “This is my passion, and I want to make sure there are opportunities for the next generation.”
