Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray could after he brought his team back from a 20-6 fourth-quarter deficit on Thursday against the Seattle Seahawks.
He tied the game 20-20 on a 7-yard touchdown pass to running back Emari Demercado as 28 seconds remained. Murray and company didn’t get a shot in overtime, however, as just enough time remained for quarterback Sam Darnold and the Seahawks to make something happen in a 23-20 defeat.
“We’ve got to make more plays. We’ve got to show up, be ready to go. It’s like [expletive] is loading, you know what I mean, and it’s taking too long,” Murray told reporters afterward. “Obviously, the resilience of the team, you love to see it, and you feel like you give yourself the chance to win the game at the end, but it’s just too late.”
Murray and his offensive teammates watched Darnold complete a 22-yard pass to wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, which set up kicker Jason Myers on a 52-yard field goal. The Cardinals’ offense, which didn’t score a touchdown until the fourth quarter, could only kick itself.
Murray connected with star wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. on a 16-yard pass play for that first score. It cut the Seahawks’ lead to 20-13 with 5:50 left in the game, which ended up being too little to late.
Marvin Harrison Jr. Slumped For Much of Seahawks Game

GettyMarvin Harrison Jr struggled for much of the game on Thursday.
Harrison didn’t look like a star for most of the game as two of Murray’s passes to him went for interceptions. The former Ohio State star and son of NFL great Marvin Harrison finished with six catches for 66 yards, and most of that came in the second half.
“I love the way that he fought back and continued to play hard and continued to make plays,” Murray said. “Obviously, he’s probably going to go home thinking about that (expletive). But at the end of the day, again, it’s football. We all make mistakes. But he continued to battle. I’m excited.”
It’s a connection the Cardinals won’t quit going with despite the slow start. Harrison has 16 catches for 208 yards and two touchdowns in four games — numbers not befitting a former No. 4 pick.
“He needs me, I need him,” Murray said. “This is a team sport, four-quarter game, and I understand he’s not coming out of the game. I don’t want him to come out of the game. So, we’ve got to get this going. And that’s really just what it is. Just conversations on the sideline, keeping his confidence up.”
Cardinals Coach Jonathan Gannon Addresses Marvin Harrison Jr.’s Play
Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon shares that sentiment. After all, Harrison had 62 receptions for 885 yards and eight touchdowns as a rookie last year.
“I’m not worried about Marv at all,” Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters on Thursday. “He’s going to be just fine. He’s resilient, just as this whole crew is.”
Arizona fell to 2-2 with the defeat, but can get back on track against the winless Tennessee Titans (0-3) in Week 5.
“I’m optimistic,” Murray said. “I know what we have in that locker room and what type of players we have, coaches. I know people think the world’s ending, but it’s not. It’s not.”
