Las Vegas Raiders star Ashton Jeanty Reveals Secrets Behind His Dominance

New Las Vegas Raiders star Ashton Jeanty was drafted by the Raiders on the heels of one of the most box-office seasons ever had by a running back.

Jeanty has the numbers to prove his Boise State legend, but beyond that, he was one of the most beloved players in college football because of how exciting he was to watch. Jeanty had the propensity to break off multiple long runs with several broken tackles every game.

Much to the delight of Raiders fans, Jeanty joined Raiders superstar Maxx Crosby’s “The Rush With Maxx Crosby” podcast on Tuesday June 4, 2025, and during the episode, Crosby asked Jeanty just how he was able to break so many tackles last season.

“It’s statistically proven that you break more tackles than literally anybody in college football history d— near,” Crosby said. “What do you think the key to that is?”

Jeanty gave a very intriguing answer – saying it has a lot to do with the mental side of the game and how he watches film.

“I study how people tackle,” Jeanty said. “I study how people miss tackles, how to bounce off people. It’s an underrated thing I feel like, studying how every defender tackles, so that when you get to a game you know what they’re going to do and you can kind of react off it.”

Crosby loved that answer, and even compared Jeanty to a superstar in an entirely different sport.

“That’s some Dennis Rodman s— too,” Crosby said. “You’re talking about getting rebounds and stuff, if the ball goes this way, or this shooter likes to shoot line drives, that s—’s real, but that’s next level, that’s why you’re able to do what you do.”

Raiders fans should be excited to see how Jeanty matches up with some of the NFL’s best tacklers — they should be even more excited knowing how prepared Jeanty is going to be.

Jeanty Also Hinted He Will Be Involved in the Passing Game

Jeanty’s unique comments about breaking tackles weren’t the only words that caught the eyes of NFL fans across the country during his appearance on Crosby’s podcast. After a down year of receiving in 2024 at Boise State, Jeanty made it clear that he fully anticipates being a factor in the passing game with the Raiders in 2025.

“This past year I literally only had like 100 receiving yards, but my sophomore year, my OC that year put me in the receiving game and I led all running backs in receiving yards,” Jeanty said. “I feel like it’s a part of my game that’s been a little bit underutilized but I think in this offense with Chip Kelly it will be brought back to life.”

Raiders fans and fantasy football owners everywhere take note: Jeanty is confident he will be a dual threat this season.

Other Fun Moments From the Podcast

Raiders fans also got to see some of Jeanty’s personality on the podcast.

He claims Texas as his home state despite having also spent time in Florida and Idaho. Raisin’ Canes is his go-to cheat day meal.

And if he had to take on any teammate in a power slap competition…he’s calling out linebacker Devin White!

Raiders fans are loving getting to know Ashton Jeanty as a human just as much as a football player.

Nonetheless, they are waiting impatiently for his first official NFL carry when the Raiders take on the New England Patriots on September 7, 2025.
