In his time both as a Georgia Bulldog and on the Las Vegas Raiders, Brock Bowers has been one of the most successful and beloved players in all of football.
But with success, fame and attention also inevitably comes scrutiny and hate.
On the Bussin’ With the Boys podcast, hosted by former NFL players Taylor Lewan and Will Compton, Bowers opened up about some of the negative messages that fans sent him while he was at Georgia.
Bowers has been dating his girlfriend Cameron Rose Newell since his high school days, but while he was at Georgia, she went to SEC rival Tennessee. And Volunteers fans were relentless to Bowers in their teasing about his girlfriend.
“It was definitely a little tough being at different schools,” Bowers said. “Especially when we’re playing and getting DMs like, ‘Oh you’re girlfriend’s out here with all the frats.’ I’m getting a bunch of DMs from Tennessee fans trying to get in [my] head and stuff…she was getting the same things.”
It’s clear Bowers and Newell didn’t let it affect them the way the haters may have hoped: Bowers developed into arguably the best tight end in football and their relationship is still going strong.
But still, it’s never fun to get malicious DMs like that.
Who is Cameron Rose Newell, Brock Bowers’s Girlfriend?
As previously mentioned, Newell and Bowers met and started dating while they were at Napa High School in Napa, California.
Newell just graduated from Tennessee this past May 2025 with a degree in Marketing from the Haslam College of Business, according to her LinkedIn profile.
She was also in the Kappa Alpha Delta sorority while at Tennessee.
Newell has always been Bowers’s biggest cheerleader, by his side at Georgia games, the NFL draft, and now Raiders games.
Raiders fans hope to see their loving relationship continue as long as it can!
Bowers Also Called Getting Picked By Las Vegas A Surprise
On the same episode of the “Bussin’ With the Boys” podcast featuring Bowers, he admitted that ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft, he had no idea that the Raiders would select him.
“It’s always the team you least expect to pick you,” Bowers said. “I didn’t talk to [the Raiders] a ton, I talked to other teams a lot more. And then all of a sudden, I’m sitting there on draft night, and I get a call…Las Vegas wasn’t in the picture really.”
Bowers also shared that he had only three visits, with the Chicago Bears, New York Jets and Los Angeles Chargers.
But it’s safe to say that Bowers is happy in Las Vegas.
Throughout the episode, he sung the praises of the Raiders organization.
“The new coaching staff too, they’ve been awesome,” Bowers said. “So I’m excited to see what happens.”
With Pete Carroll and Chip Kelly now in the building to helm a retooled offense, the Raiders hope they can make a run to the playoffs in 2025.
And Bowers hopes he can one-up the record breaking rookie season he had in 2024.
