Lawyer Challenges Allegations Against Ex-Bucks Guard

The attorney for former Milwaukee Bucks guard Patrick Beverley is disputing the disturbing accusations in a Texas affidavit that alleges the NBA veteran choked and struck his younger sister, saying the arrest document is incomplete and misrepresents the incident.

Beverley, who played for the Bucks during the 2023–24 NBA season, was arrested in Fort Bend County, Texas, and charged with third-degree felony family assault involving impeding breath, a serious offense under Texas law commonly linked to choking.

In a new statement sent to Heavy.com, Beverley’s attorney Letitia Quinones-Hollins argued that the allegations lack crucial context and warned against jumping to conclusions.

“Remember that it is only one side of the story — given at a time when emotions were high,” Quinones-Hollins said. “We don’t believe that the description in that affidavit is accurate, nor is it complete.”

Attorney: Beverley Was Not Violent and Cooperated With Police

According to the affidavit obtained by TMZ Sports, police alleged that Beverley grabbed his sister by the neck with both hands, lifted her off the ground, slammed her into the walls, then punched her once in the left eye. Investigators documented neck marks and petechiae — burst blood vessels often associated with strangulation.

Beverley’s attorney strongly rejected those claims.

“Patrick is not a violent man and was not violent that night,” she said. “In fact, he was very respectful with the authorities and encouraged others to do the same.”

Quinones-Hollins emphasized that Beverley has been the financial provider and protector of his family, including his mother and sister.

“He has always looked out for their well-being and will continue to do so.”

Beverley was released after posting $40,000 bail, according to Texas court records.

Attorney Says Evidence Will Clear Former Milwaukee Buck

GettyFormer Milwaukee Bucks guard Patrick Beverley defends his tarnished reputation on social media following his arrest.

The defense expects the case to resolve in Beverley’s favor once all factual evidence is presented in court.

“When all the facts are in, Patrick will be cleared of these charges,” Quinones-Hollins said. “Patrick is innocent unless proven otherwise in a court of law.”

No court date has been announced yet.

Beverley’s Controversial End to Bucks Stint

Beverley last played for the Bucks in May 2024, when they were eliminated by the Indiana Pacers in the NBA playoffs. In the final minutes of Game 6, Beverley was caught on camera throwing a basketball at two Pacers fans, hitting a woman in the head before demanding the ball back and throwing it again.

The NBA handed Beverley a four-game NBA suspension for the incident, which is still unserved, after he was left unsigned.

Pacers fans later filed a civil lawsuit seeking damages.

Before that altercation, Beverley contributed a physical, defensive-minded spark for Milwaukee. He averaged 6.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists while shooting 36.1% from three-point range. He earned praise from coaches and teammates for bringing edge, toughness, and defensive energy to a team that struggled after injuries to Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard.

Beverley was a three-time NBA All-Defensive guard who also played for the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Chicago Bulls and the Philadelphia 76ers.
