While the Kansas City Chiefs look to notch their third consecutive win against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5, tight end Travis Kelce’s fiancée, Taylor Swift, dropped her twelfth studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl.
Swift first announced her new album on Kelce’s podcast, “New Heights,” in August, and the 12-track record is already making history. “The Life of a Showgirl” became Amazon’s most-streamed album of the year within the first 10 hours of its release and Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day in 2025.
The new record includes numerous tributes to Kelce. The track, “Wood,” includes a number of double-entendres inspired by the 10-time Pro Bowler. “Opalite” is also a nod to Kelce.
“Travis’ birthstone is an opal, so I’ve always fixated on that, I’ve always loved that stone,” she explained to Capital FM. “I thought it was kind of cool metaphor. [Opalite is] a man-made opal, and happiness can also be man-made, too. So, that’s kind of what the song is about, kind of the juxtaposition of those two.”
Kelce hinted the song may be about him during a “New Heights” episode in August. “I think ‘Opalite’ might be my favorite, at least right now,” Kelce told his brother and co-host, Jason Kelce. “Every time it comes on, I always catch myself.” However, he also praised all 12 songs on the record.
“It’s just so much fun to listen to, man. I’ve been dancing throughout the house.”
Fans Strongly Reacted to Taylor Swift Catching A Football In ‘The Fate Of Ophelia’ Music Video
Fans lucky enough to snag tickets to “The Official Release Party of a Showgirl” at movie theaters on Friday got to see the first music video off the album, which is for the song “The Fate of Ophelia.”
Swift officially releases the music video on YouTube on Sunday, October 5, Kelce’s 36th birthday. However, leaked clips from the movie theater have already made their way onto social media. Based on the lyrics, there was little doubt Kelce inspired the upbeat track.
However, Swift catching a football before walking into hotel room No. 87 sent a clear message in the music video.
One fan joked, “skyy moore could never.” One woman commented, “ATHLETE TAYLOR.” A Swiftie added, “LMFAO HECK OF A CATCH!!”
A behind-the-scenes video from the film of Swift working with choreographer Mandy Moore also made its way onto the Internet.
“Pledge allegiance to your hands, your team,’ Swift says of the song’s lyrics, “somebody should throw me a football.
“Oh, I love!” Moore replies. “Do you think, T, you’re going to want to throw with your right or your left?”
Swift replies, “Hard to say when I have no preference because I’ve never caught a ball before.”
Travis Kelce Saved Taylor Swift From ‘The Fate Of Ophelia,’ The Singer Explained

GettyChiefs tight end Travis Kelce ant Taylor Swift celebrate Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium on February 11, 2024.
“The Fate of Ophelia,” was inspired by William Shakespeare’s tragic play “Hamlet” and the young woman driven to madness and death after the titular character kills her father, Polonius.
“The hook is someone comes into your life and rescues you from the fate of being driven mad by love,” Swift explained on Heart Breakfast radio show. She also confirmed the line, “Keep it 100,” is a play on her and Kelce’s favorite numbers, 13 and 87, combined.
When Kelce first posted photos of Swift on his Instagram page this summer, he included an Easter egg. “Had some adventures this offseason, kept it 💯,” he wrote.
