LeBron James Sends 4-World Note on Bronny James to Lakers Fans

Veteran forward LeBron James is beaming with pride about his son, Bronny James, taking strides as a pro in his second season with the Lakers.

On his “Mind the Game” podcast, James sent a powerful four-word note on Bronny.

“Super proud of him,” James said of Bronny, who is averaging 1.9 points, 1.7 assists and 0.8 rebounds from 10.2 minutes across 11 contests.

LeBron James Proud of Bronny

The 23-year veteran is specifically proud of Bronny’s toughness as a perimeter defender, which the second-year pro has displayed in his limited opportunities.

“It’s been great, not only as a father but just as a student of the game to see someone kind of use what he was able to do last year in the G League – use that, get more comfortable, then go into Summer League and be even more comfortable,” James said of his son, citing Bronny’s productive G League stint as a rookie.

“And when his time has been called this year, just continue to feel good about it. For a young player, the more and more time you get, the better you get,” James added.

While he sat on the sidelines for the first 14 games due to sciatica, James saw Bronny play a key role in the Lakers’ back-to-back wins over the Miami Heat and Portland Trail Blazers on November 2 and 3. In both those games, Lakers head coach JJ Redick kept Bronny on the floor during crunch time, and the 21-year-old responded by locking up the opposition’s best guards and making key shots down the stretch.

What LeBron Wants for Bronny

In the game against the Blazers, Bronny became the first Lakers player this season to record six or more assists with zero turnovers, earning the praise of James Worthy.

James felt that Bronny showed a lot of mettle in those back-to-back wins.

“In those games where Luka [Doncic] was out, or AR [Austin Reaves] was out, or Marcus [Smart] was out, we had a back-to-back game in Portland, I was just super proud of him, of the maturation process to not only play well at home and then have a back-to-back in a tough environment in Portland, and then do it again,” James said.

“That’s what the NBA is all about,” added the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.

Most of all, LeBron James wants Bronny James to “walk through the fire” and create his own path, which he feels his blueprint won’t help him accomplish.

“I’m one of the leaders of the team, and  I can tell him about what I saw, but I just want him — he has to walk his own journey,” LeBron said of his son.

“I can give him the blueprint and some of the things I’ve seen, but I want him to walk through the fire,” added James.

Bronny James has spent some time with the G League’s South Bay Lakers over the past week or so, but was on the bench during Friday’s NBA Cup victory over the Mavericks.
