Lee Corso Predicts His Final National Championship Pick on ‘College GameDay’

Lee Corso may be making his final appearance on “College GameDay,” but the college football icon is riding off into the sunset with a bang. Corso’s final headgear pick has been highly anticipated, but the legend also revealed his college football championship prediction as well.

Additionally, Corso teased his College Football Playoff picks with his final four teams. Corso is riding with the SEC versus the Big Ten for his final national title pick, but his champ may not be a team fans are expecting.

The LSU Tigers are Corso’s final national championship pick. Corso predicts LSU will top Penn State to win the national title.

Here’s what you need to know about Corso’s final college football pick on ESPN’s “College GameDay.”

Lee Corso Picks LSU Will Beat Penn State to Win the National Championship in Final ‘College GameDay’ Prediction

Corso has Notre Dame and Clemson advancing to the College Football Playoff semifinals. The analyst revealed his national championship pick just minutes into his final “College GameDay.”

“No. 1 Notre Dame, never bet against the Catholics,” Corso said during an August 30, 2025, episode of “College GameDay.” “Penn State wins the Big Ten, (they’re) loaded offensively. Next, Clemson (is) loaded.

“…Then LSU, the nation’s No. 1 transfer portal (class) and a veteran quarterback. Now, the final four, two of them, LSU versus Penn State for the national championship,” Corso continued.

“A great game there, (a) battle, but the winner: LSU. LSU wins the national championship.”

ESPN Will Likely Retire the ‘College GameDay’ Headgear Selection as Lee Corso Leaves

All eyes will be on Corso as he make his final headgear selection on “College GameDay.” Corso faces a difficult decision as the Texas-Ohio State spread has bounced back and forth between both teams being the favorite.

When Corso picks either Bevo or Brutus, it will likely be the final “College GameDay” pick ever as Corso retires. During an April interview with CNN, ESPN “College GameDay” host Rece Davis hinted that the show will retire the headgear picks when Corso leaves.

“I think I’m going to have to tackle anybody that tries to do a headgear pick other than Lee Corso,” Davis explained. “That to me is his signature moment and it should stay with him in my judgment.

“And I will fight very hard not to be overruled or vetoed on that because many people tell me that it’s just, you know, something that they look forward to every week. And I think that is his and his alone.”

Texas Is the Favorite in the College Football Odds to Win the National Championship

As for Corso’s national title pick, the “College GameDay” legend did not go too far down the list of favorites for his prediction. Texas is a slight favorite on the field to win the national championship at +550, per FanDuel.

Corso’s Tigers are sixth in the national title odds at +1300. Georgia (+650), Penn State (+700), Ohio State (+750) and Alabama (+900) are among the favorites as well. Time will tell if Corso’s grand finale national championship pick will be good luck for LSU.
