Lions’ Next Game Against the Giants Just Got More Difficult

The Detroit Lions are coming off a rough game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday evening, November 16, where they fell in a 16-9 loss and simply looked out of sorts on the field. Not much went right for the Lions on Sunday, especially when it came to the offense, where Detroit was 0-for-5 on fourth down in the defeat.

But, that’s all in the past, and now, the Detroit Lions are taking on the New York Giants at Ford Field on Sunday, November 23. The Giants have a 2-9 record going into this matchup and are trying to rebuild from the ashes, so frankly, even if the Lions win this game, it’s not going to mean much. What will matter more is if the Lions lose this game. We’d better pray that doesn’t happen.

Not to get down on the Lions, because this is an incredible talented and vibrant team. There’s no reason the Detroit Lions shouldn’t go all the way this season. They have the talent, but to win, Dan Campbell has to make some smart moves.

Heading into Sunday’s game, the Lions shouldn’t be fooled by the New York Giants’ 2-9 record. The Giants just got back a force on the field, so the Lions better note that their opponents will be in a better place than they have been for much of the season.

Detroit Lions Will Face a New York Giants Favorite

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is expected to play against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, according to a report from North Jersey’s Art Stapleton. Dart was sidelined with a concussion in Week 11, and having him back will only help the Giants. During his games with the team, the rookie quarterback has completed 62.7 percent of his passes for 1,417 yards, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions, and add to that 317 rushing yards and seven touchdowns, according to NFL research.

“The expectation is that the 22-year-old rookie will practice Wednesday and continue his progression in the latter stages of concussion protocol,” Stapleton stated in the report, out on Wednesday, November 19. “If all continues to go well, Dart would be in line to meet with the independent neurological consultant assigned to the Giants where he’d receive final medical clearance by week’s end.”

Stapleton also took to X to share the news, stating, “Jaxson Dart will be back at practice today with the expectation he will have the chance to return Sunday in Detroit, per sources.”

Good News for the Detroit Lions

So, Dart will be back, and that’s going to be a test for the Detroit Lions. The good news, however, is that it’s really the Lions’ offensive that had hiccups on Sunday against the Eagles, not the defense. So, Aidan Hutchinson and company should be ready to take on Dart.

Also, the New York Giants will be without their rising rookie running back Cam Skattebo, who was injured during the team’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles on the road on Sunday, October 26. So, the Giants aren’t in full capacity, which should help the Lions. Either way, this is an absolute must-win for the Lions as they try to come back from the Eagles disappointment.
