Liverpool have agreed a €65 million (£56.6m) transfer fee to sell Darwin Nunez to Al-Hilal, according to reports.

The Uruguay international struggled for playing time under Arne Slot last season, starting just eight games in the Premier League.

Liverpool have been open to cashing in on Nunez this summer and the forward has attracted interest from Atletico Madrid and AC Milan.

But according to Sky Sport Italy, Liverpool and Al-Hilal have now reached an agreement over a €65m (£56.6m) fee for the 26-year-old.

The report adds that the Saudi Pro League side have accepted Nunez’s salary demands and a contract is now being finalised.

AC Milan are now said to be looking at alternative options to Nunez, one of which includes a potential loan deal for Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund.

Liverpool spent an initial £64m to sign Nunez from Benfica in 2022, while the deal was worth £85m in total after add-ons.

The Uruguayan has been part of Liverpool’s pre-season campaign this summer and scored in their friendly against Athletic Bilbao at Anfield on Monday evening.

Elsewhere, the Premier League champions have suffered a setback in their pursuit of Alexander Isak as Newcastle United’s replacement target, Benjamin Sesko, is now closing in on a move to Manchester United.

Liverpool’s £110m bid for Isak has already been rejected by Newcastle, who are holding out for a £150m fee.
