Liverpool coach John Heitinga was caught mocking Everton during a training session with Darwin Nunez.

Arne Slot’s side have made an impressive start to the new Premier League season with three consecutive wins, which includes a 3-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford before the international break.

In contrast, Everton sit bottom of the Premier League having lost all three of their matches so far.

Sean Dyche’s men appeared to be on course to secure their first three points of the new campaign having taken a 2-0 lead against Bournemouth in their last match, before Andoni Iraola’s side staged a brilliant late comeback to seal a 3-2 win at Goodison Park.

Heitinga, the former Everton defender who was brought in as part of Slot’s coaching staff in the summer, made light of the Toffee’s current defensive frailties during Liverpool’s recent training session.

As Nunez ran through a shooting drill past several mannequins, Heitinga joked: ‘It’s like Everton’s defence.’

Slot, meanwhile, admits he will need to begin changing his starting line-ups as Liverpool’s Champions League campaign gets underway against AC Milan next week.

So far, Slot has made only one change to his starting line-up in three games with Ibrahima Konate replacing Jarell Quansah at centre-back after the first match.

‘My former teams we were able to actually play almost every game with the same players but it is a different league so I might have to adjust to that, but it also depends on what they show in terms of physique,’ Slot said on Friday.

‘In the first three games we were really strong in terms of physique but we only played one game every seven days. Now they have a point to prove.

‘I assume they all want to play every game, so if they want to they have to show up every time in terms of quality and especially work-rate.

‘We have more than 11 very good players so I can use more.’
