Luis Diaz has dismissed rumours of a Liverpool exit this summer, saying he is happy at Anfield and is fulfilling a dream to be playing for the Reds.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a move away from Merseyside this summer, with Barcelona thought to be interested, while a switch to the Saudi Pro League has also been mooted as a possibility.

There is set to be a summer of some uncertainty at Anfield after the departure of Jurgen Klopp after nearly nine years in charge of the club.

There have already been departures for Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara at the end of their contracts, while assistant manager Pep Lijnders has also departed to take over at RB Salzburg.

Diaz would be a big loss for new boss Arne Slot, who is looking to continue the good work of Klopp and build his own side and the Dutchman will be pleased to hear the Colombian distance himself from exit rumours.

‘I am very happy there in Liverpool, it is a great team and club,’ he said via Gol Caracol. ‘I always wanted to play there, so I am very happy and calm.

‘I’m not thinking about anything else, I’m thinking about the Colombian national team, which is where we are.’

Diaz is in action for Colombia this summer at the Copa America, where his team will face Paraguay, Costa Rica and Brazil in the group stage.

Colombia go into the tournament boasting a 22-match unbeaten run dating all the way back to their last defeat to Argentina in February 2022.

Nestor Lorenzo’s side have won their last seven matches, including victories over Brazil, Spain and Mexico.
