Malik Nabers Just Said the Quiet Part Out Loud About Russell Wilson

The New York Giants are working hard in training camp, and pretty soon, they’ll be at the start of the preseason, which kicks off on Saturday, August 9, against the Buffalo Bills. Then, it will be time for the regular season, which, unfortunately, is filled with difficult games for the team.

It would be hard for the New York Giants to do worse than last season, though, with their 3-14 record. Hopefully head coach Brian Daboll and company are ready for a big season and one that can turn this franchise around.

Daboll is leading a large quarterback room for the Giants with veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, rookie Jaxson Dart and returning player Tommy DeVito. So, how do the non-quarterbacks feel about this new quarterback lineup? One of the Giants’ key players is speaking out about what life is like with Wilson in the fold.

Malik Nabers Gives His Take on Russell Wilson of the New York Giants

Wide receiver Malik Nabers has had some time to get used to having a new lead signal-caller in Wilson. So far, he seems to like the change. In a video posted by SNY and Giants Videos on X, Nabers was asked about Wilson.

“He’s put the ball in some crazy spots that I thought would never get to me… the moonball, it’s easy to catch – he puts it right in the bucket,” Nabers said.

We absolutely love hearing the words that “it’s easy to catch” a ball from Wilson. These two could be dynamite this season. So, he said the quiet part out loud, in that we want to hear that Wilson is a stellar quarterback because of those easy passes.

Doug Rush of GmenHQ also notices that Wilson and Nabers have a good thing going. In a piece published on Friday, August 8, he states, “The signing of Wilson and his ability to consistently get the ball to his receivers, especially Nabers, is exactly why there’s so much excitement on the Giants’ side heading into 2025. It’s also why Nabers himself is fired up for the season. At times, he’s looked completely un-guardable with how effortlessly he’s been able to get to the football.”

He adds, “Just imagine how much more unstoppable Nabers could be with the improved quarterback play he’s expected to have heading into the 2025 season.”

It’s true that Nabers is the kind of player who could do well with any quarterback. So, having a solid one could make him unstoppable.

More Love for Malik Nabers

During the offseason, ESPN conducted a poll of more than 70 league executives, coaches and scouts to find the top 10 players at 11 different positions heading into the 2025-26 season. For the wide receiver position, Nabers made the cut at No. 7. That’s impressive, since he’s only been in the NFL for one year.

“Nabers has the NFL’s full attention,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler stated in the piece. “Surpassing 100 catches and 1,200 yards as a rookie in one of the league’s worst offenses with four different quarterbacks is rock-climbing-on-stilts difficult. The receptions total is the second most by a rookie in NFL history behind Raiders tight end Brock Bowers (112).” He added that “Nabers will lead the charge for New York as it transitions at quarterback with Russell Wilson as the bridge and Jaxson Dart as the future.”
