Hertha BSC’s record-breaking teenager Kennet Eichhorn is attracting attention from a string of top clubs, including Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool.

The 16-year-old had already made his professional debut for the German side, becoming the youngest ever player in the 2.Bundesliga.

He made his debut in August at just 16 years and 14 days old against Karlsruhe and then made more history by becoming the youngest player to start a match in the division at just 16 years and 48 days.

The youngster has now made eight appearances in the 2.Bundesliga, he has also been gaining experience through the age-ranges at international level for Germany.

After he made his Hertha debut, teammate Fabian Reese said of him: ‘He is an incredible, exceptional talent. If he continues like this, all doors will be open to him.

‘I have rarely seen anyone so talented at that age. He has a huge career ahead of him.’

Unsurprisingly, with that level of praise at his age, bigger clubs have shown an interest in the hot prospect, with a number of European giants casting their eyes over him.

German publication BILD report that Premier League clubs Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City have all had a look at Eichhorn.

The likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have also scouted him, as have a string of Bundesliga clubs.

It seems that the youngster will have a wide array of the biggest clubs in the world to choose from in the coming months.

Hertha BSC know the level of interest will allow them to cash in, but reports suggest the teenager will be available at the potentially bargain price of €20m (£17.6m.)

Eichhorn got his chance in the first team partly due to injuries, but manager Stefan Leitl made it clear how much he rates the teenager when his more experienced midfield options returned.

Ahead of a clash with Dusseldorf last month and asked about team selection, Leitl said: ‘We’re happy that everyone is available again. We’ll decide tomorrow after the final training session.

‘Let’s put it this way: who will play alongside Kennet Eichhorn in midfield?’

The Berliner Kurier wrote of the outstanding talent: ‘The robust 1.86-metre-tall young professional has long since proven that he can fully compete physically.

‘This is the fifth game in which Eichhorn has been in the starting eleven. The boy from Bernau is showing no signs of the usual dips in performance that are normal at his age.’
