Ruben Amorim has been dealt a double injury blow as his Manchester United side look to make it three wins in a row against Brighton on Saturday.

Amorim’s side produced a rousing display last weekend to beat Liverpool at Anfield for the first time in almost a decade.

The victory also saw the Red Devils win back-to-back games in the Premier League for the first time in Amorim’s rocky start to life at Old Trafford.

United are hoping to build on that momentum at the weekend, but face a Brighton side who they have beaten just once in their last five encounters.

And Amorim has now revealed that could be without two of the players that started last weekend’s win over Liverpool after Harry Maguire and Mason Mount picked up minor knocks.

‘The squad is fine. We have some doubts, we had some issues in the week with Harry Maguire and Mason Mount,’ Amorim said in his pre-match press conference.

‘Knocks, nothing serious and we will see tomorrow.’

‘Licha (Lisandro Martinez) is out, but the rest is ready for the game. I think it’s always going to be like always, but it’s going to be a very difficult game. It’s a difficult team.

‘They are fun to watch, really good with build-up, really strong with transitions in every aspect of the game and are doing well with set-pieces.’

Asked further about Martinez, who has not played for United since suffering a serious knee injury against Crystal Palace at the beginning of February, Amorim replied: ‘I don’t know [when he will return], he trained really well.

‘Not with us, but on the next pitch and I was watching also the training.

‘He’s feeling well and the knee is responding really well, so I don’t want to say one specific day or week, but he’s near to starting the training with the team.

‘Then it depends whether he wins a place or not. That will depend on him, but he is closer to returning to [full] training.’
