Man Utd icon Paul Scholes stuns presenter after swearing on live TV as Class of 92 team-mate pranks him in legends game

MANCHESTER UNITED legend Paul Scholes hilariously swore live on air before a legends match against Celtic at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils welcomed back a number of iconic players on Saturday including Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov, Nicky Butt and Michael Carrick.

Rooney’s free-kick put Man Utd in front, before Celtic equalised and went on to win on penalties.

But it was before the match when Scholes‘ on-air mishap took place after Butt launched a ball in his direction during an interview on MUTV.

Butt fired a high ball towards the former England midfielder which Scholes was forced to move out of the way from.

As it flew at him, he said: “I’m going to get t*****d here, I can see.”

Immediately realising what he had done, he added: “Sorry for swearing. Is it live?”

MUTV presenter Zarah Connolly burst into laughter at the hysterical moment.

She then went on to add: “Apologies for that. I knew that that target would have been Nicky Butt right there.”

When Connolly later interviewed Butt, Scholes responded by lightly passing a ball at Butt who turned around and laughed.

The legends match raised money for the Manchester United Foundation.

Yet despite the light-hearted nature of the event, some Red Devils fans were quick to call for Carrick to come out of retirement and replaced Casemiro in Erik ten Hag‘s midfield.

Middlesbrough manager Carrick, 43, retired in 2018 after 464 games and 12 years at Man Utd.

Yet despite hanging up his boots six years ago, some fans still believe he would be an upgrade on Casemiro – who has endured a nightmare start to the season.
