Swedish teenager Kevin Filling is not getting overexcited by links with a move to Manchester United, concentrating on his progress at AIK.

The 16-year-old forward has been touted as a possible signing for the Red Devils, having already started scoring in the Swedish top flight.

Handed a surprise first appearance by AIK in the starting XI in June this year, the youngster scored in a 3-0 win over IFK Goteborg to grab the headlines.

Filling has largely been used as a substitute since then, but has scored a second Allsvenskan goal for AIK.

Last month Sky Sport Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reported that Manchester United are in ‘concrete negotiations’ for the teenager.

The report added that there was also interest from the Bundesliga and AIK would only be looking for a fee of around €3m (£2.64m) in the upcoming January transfer window.

The transfer speculation was put to the teenager and he has largely dismissed it, focussing on trying to hold down a place in the AIK starting XI before he can think of a move to one of the biggest clubs in the world.

‘It’s nothing special. I don’t know much. I’m focused on AIK and that’s where all my focus lies. So, I’ll just continue there,’ Filling told Swedish publication Expressen.

Asked if he is thinking about his future, he said: ‘No. I don’t know anything, so no, I’m not thinking about it that much.

‘[My goal is] to take a starting place in the team and do as well as I can in every match and every chance I get. I want to continue and deliver more points.’

There were contrasting reports on United’s interest in Filling from German publication Absolut Fussball last month, which stated that there were talks over the summer but Filling has since fallen off the radar at Old Trafford.

Clearly he would not be thought of as a first team signing if Manchester United were to make a move in 2026, but one to develop for the future.

Filling had never even been on the bench before he made his senior debut for AIK, saying after scoring in the victory: ‘It was a little surreal to come out into the stadium.

‘Of course it was a little nervous, but it’s just a match. I’ve prepared my whole life for this. 40,000, 5,000, 100 people, it doesn’t matter, I always do my best.’
