Manchester United have decided to strip Marcus Rashford of the No.10 shirt and will give it to new summer signing Matheus Cunha.

Cunha arrived as United’s first signing of the summer transfer window following a £62.5million move from Wolves.

Ruben Amorim will have high hopes for the Brazilian as he looks to revive United’s attacking fortunes following a disappointing season last campaign.

Cunha will report to pre-season in the coming days, and the 26-year-old has been given an early present after United decided to give him the No.10 shirt for the new season.

The shirt was most recently worn by Rashford, but the Englishman has been stripped of the iconic jersey as he looks for a summer exit.

Rashford has not played for United since December after a falling out with Amorim saw him loaned out to Aston Villa in January.

Villa had the option to sign Rashford for £40 million, but the forward has long made it clear that he is holding out for a Champions League club.

A move to Barcelona appears to be Rashford’s preference, with the forward even publicly admitting that he would relish a move to the Nou Camp to link up with teenage sensation Lamine Yamal.

And Rashford’s hopes of securing a move to Barca could well have improved after the Catalan giants missed out on the chance to sign Nico Williams.

The Athletic Club winger had reportedly agreed verbal terms on a move, but has now instead signed a new contract with his boyhood club, which includes an increased release clause.

Barcelona are reportedly set to turn their focus to signing Liverpool’s Luis Diaz, but are also keen on signing Rashford as well on a loan deal.

Rashford is not expected to report back to pre-season along with the rest of the squad to give him time to try and secure a move away from Old Trafford.

Antony, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Tyrell Malacia have also reportedly been granted an extended break to try and finalise moves away after telling United they would like to leave this summer.
