Manchester United have played down reports that they’ve submitted a £50.7million offer to sign Lille star Leny Yoro.

The 18-year-old is considered one the brightest prospects in Europe and has been scouted by the likes of United, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

Yoro has been widely compared to Raphael Varane, who will leave United at the end of this month when his contract expires.

Yoro has just over a year to run on his Lille contract and the Ligue 1 side are understandably concerned that such a valuable asset could leave for free in 2025.

They are therefore minded to sell the defender this summer and reports in France last week claimed United had opened the bidding with a £50.7m offer.

However, United have dismissed those reports and say no bid has been submitted.

The club are, however, interested in Yoro and could still firm up their interest in the coming weeks.

That could depend on whether Everton lower their £75m asking price for Jarrad Branthwaite.

The defender, who was cut from England’s Euro 2024 squad, could be sold to raise some funds at Goodison Park.

As well as a centre-back, United plan on signing a central midfielder and striker this summer, while a right winger is also of interest.
