Manchester United have reached a ‘verbal agreement’ over a deal for Rasmus Hojlund to leave Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim has made it clear he wants Hojlund to leave by leaving the striker out of his matchday squads at the start of the 2025-26 season.
Hojlund was Manchester United’s first-choice striker last season but endured a miserable spell in front of goal, scoring just four times in the league.
United have been open to offers for Hojlund since signing Benjamin Sesko in a £74m deal from RB Leipzig.
Hojlund wanted to stay put and fight for his place but has accepted his Manchester United career is over due to Amorim’s brutal selections.

A number of clubs registered interest in signing the 22-year-old and Napoli emerged as the frontrunners to strike a deal earlier this week.
According to Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, United have now reached a ‘verbal agreement’ with Napoli over a deal and a fee for Hojlund.

It is claimed Hojlund will join the Serie A giants on a season-long loan deal, with Napoli obligated to sign him on a permanent transfer next summer for 45m euros (£39m).
That would represent a loss of around £35m for a player Manchester United signed from Atalanta in the summer of 2023.
While Hojlund has been a failure at Old Trafford, ex-United striker Louis Saha has sympathy for the Denmark international.

‘I do have sympathy for Rasmus Hojlund,’ he told AdventureGamers. ‘It’s difficult for young players. They commit themselves and try everything, but often they’re not in the right position.
‘He was too young and needed to show confidence, which is incredibly difficult when faced with those kinds of opportunities.
‘This sometimes leads to a lack of the necessary humility for putting in the hard work in areas where it’s truly needed.

‘These things are really hard to learn and perform simultaneously; it’s simply impossible. I have a lot of sympathy because, as a striker, he had to provide that confidence.
‘But at the same time, you have to show humility, work hard, and improve on the simple things. This balance is not easy when you’re 21 or 22.’
Hojlund looks set to leave Manchester United having scored 26 goals in 95 appearances for the Red Devils.
He is one of a number of players United hope to sell before the summer transfer window closes on Monday night.
Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Antony are all also part of Amorim’s bomb squad.
Manchester United suffered an embarrassing Carabao Cup defeat to League Two side Grimsby Town on Wednesday.
Amorim will be desperate for a response this weekend when United welcome Premier League new-boys Burnley to Old Trafford.
