Manchester United have received a £30 million bid from Lazio for Mason Greenwood, according to reports.

Greenwood has just spent the season on loan at Getafe and United are now open to selling the forward on a permanent deal in the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old has not played for United since he was arrested in January 2022 for attempted rape, controlling behaviour and assault.

All charges against Greenwood were dropped in February 2023 and United had considered reintegrating him back into Erik ten Hag’s first-team squad before the club received major backlash over his potential return.

Greenwood had attracted strong interest from Juventus, with reports in Italy claiming that the Serie A club had proposed a £40m deal.

However, it emerged this week that Juve are now reconsidering their move for Greenwood after supporters raised concerns over the nature of the forward’s arrest two years ago.

Lazio, meanwhile, attempted to sign Greenwood on loan last summer, however, the Serie A club accused United of failing to complete the paperwork in time before the transfer deadline.

According to The Times, Lazio have reignited their interest and have submitted a £30m offer, although United are holding out for a fee closer to £40m.

Greenwood has a year remaining on his contract with United and the club are looking to move him on this summer in order to bolster their transfer budget.

It’s understood that United are starting with a budget of around £35m for new signings this summer before factoring in extra funds made from player sales.

Jadon Sancho, Casemiro and Donny van de Beekare also expected to leave Old Trafford this summer.
