Mark Davis Announces Significant Raiders Decision

The Las Vegas Raiders have had a very difficult time convincing Raiders fans to show up to home games at Allegiant Stadium. Not only are they some of the most expensive tickets in the NFL, but the team has been very bad for all but one season since moving to Sin City.

The Raiders are not the only team that has a hard time getting fans of the team to consistently go to home games. The Los Angeles Chargers recently revealed that they’ll be adding 10% to the fee for their season ticket holders for fans who don’t at least attend two games.

The Indianapolis Colts, Tampa Buccaneers, Seattle Seahawks, Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions all restrict how many tickets season-ticket holders are allowed to sell per season. Raiders games in Las Vegas turning into home games for opposing teams is a major source of frustration for fans, and many would like to see owner Mark Davis implement some rules to make that less of an issue.

However, he made it clear that he won’t put any rules in place and supports his season ticket holders’ right to sell their tickets.

“If they decide they want to sell them, then that’s what they’re going to do,” Davis told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “I’m not going to put rules and regulations on them to do that, like some teams do. That’s not where it’s at.”

Winning Will Fix the Problem, Per Davis

The Raiders don’t have a small fan base like some of the teams that have placed restrictions on season ticket holders. The problem with the Raiders is that they have had two winning seasons since 2002.

Since moving to Las Vegas, they have made the playoffs once. It’s not going to be easy to get a new city on board with you when you aren’t winning. The Las Vegas Aces of the WNBA and Vegas Golden Knights of the NHL have robust fan bases in the city, but both teams have won championships in recent years.

Davis believes that winning will solve the Raiders’ issues with attendance.

“What I’ve said all along is, we’ve got to start winning and start earning the fans to come,” Davis said.

How Far Are the Raiders Away From Being Good Again?

Many expected the Raiders to take a leap forward this year. Pete Carroll is a proven head coach, and quarterback Geno Smith was coming off some strong years with the Seattle Seahawks.

However, the Raiders have arguably been worse than last season. They are 2-5 and aren’t doing anything well. At this point, it’s impossible to know when the Raiders might figure things out.

It’s been over two decades since they were considered one of the better franchises in the NFL. If Carroll can’t fix them, it might take some luck to get the team back on track. The Raiders need a true franchise quarterback, but those aren’t easy to find. That said, the team hasn’t even been trying, so they need to start investing heavy draft capital into the quarterback position.
