Mason Mount sends Man Utd to Europa League final with Athletic Bilbao thrashing

Mason Mount scored twice as Manchester United thrashed Athletic Bilbao 4-1 in the second leg of their Europa League semi-final clash.

The result means United will now face Tottenham in an all-English final with Ruben Amorim’s side progressing 7-1 on aggregate at Old Trafford.

It was Bilbao who opened the scoring on 31 minutes on Thursday after a defensive error from Harry Maguire with Mikel Jauregizar curling a beauty into the top corner from outside the box.

United were behind on the night until the 72nd minute with Mount levelling things up before Casemiro used his shoulder to put the hosts 2-1 up.

Rasmus Hojlund added the third before Mount – who only came on in the 62nd minute – bagged his second from the halfway line to secure United’s spot in the final.

Here’s how it all unfolded…
