Matt LaFleur Issues Josh Jacobs Injury Update Ahead of Broncos Matchup

The Green Bay Packers picked up a massive win over the Chicago Bears in Week 14 to retake control of the NFC North division with four games left in the 2025 campaign. However, things aren’t going to get any easier for head coach Matt LaFleur and his crew, because the team has a tough matchup against the Denver Broncos coming up in Week 15.

The No. 1 seed in the AFC, the Broncos feature an airtight defense that has been making their opponents’ lives miserable all season long. In order for the Packers to have their best shot at coming out on top this one, they are going to need all hands on deck, which makes the latest injury update regarding star running back Josh Jacobs very important.

Matt LaFleur Provides Encouraging Josh Jacobs Injury Update

While Green Bay boasts a 9-3-1 record, it hasn’t always been pretty on offense for them this season. Jordan Love and company have tended to figure things out when they have to, but they haven’t operated at as high a level as many folks expected they would, and that has made life more difficult for Jacobs on the ground.

Jacobs enjoyed a strong first season with the Packers in 2024, as he racked up 1,329 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground, suiting up for all 17 games. This year, Jacobs has been battling a slew of injuries, while also running behind an offensive line that has not been nearly as consistent as it was a year ago. Jacobs’ numbers are still strong (206 CAR, 817 YDS, 12 TD), but yards have been tougher to come by for him.

This week, Jacobs has been dealing with a knee injury that caused him to miss Green Bay’s first two practices of the week. Immediately, that caused alarm bells to ring, as fans were concerned Jacobs was at risk of missing the team’s important contest against Denver. On Friday, LaFleur revealed that Jacobs will take the field in a limited capacity for the team’s final practice session, giving him a shot to suit up in Week 15.

“Packers coach Matt LaFleur said RB Josh Jacobs (knee) will practice today in a limited fashion after missing the last two days,” Rob Demovsky of ESPN shared in a post on X. “‘It sounds like he’s feeling pretty good.’ LaFleur added they will have to see how he feels after the workout.”

Jacobs is a tough guy, so if he can be out on the field with the rest of his teammates, you can bet he will be there. At the same time, though, the Packers don’t want to force it and have Jacobs suit up for a game he isn’t ready to play in. So even though he returned to practice on Friday, that doesn’t guarantee he will play against the Broncos.

If Jacobs can’t go, Emanuel Wilson would take over at the running back spot. Wilson starred in his lone start earlier this season against the Minnesota Vikings, racking up 107 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries, but Denver’s defense offers Green Bay a whole different challenge. It seems like Jacobs is trending in the right direction, but his status will be worth checking when the team reveals its final inactives for this game on Sunday.
