Max Holloway and His Wife Share Heartwarming News With Fans

On the heels of his win over Dustin Poirier, Max Holloway and his wife Alessa shared some heartwarming news with fans via Instagram this week.

According to the former featherweight kingpin, his wife is now legally the mother of his son, Rush Holloway, after a bitter custody dispute spanning five years.

In a post on Instagram, Holloway shared the good news with fans, revealing that he prevailed in what he called the hardest fight of his life.

“I just won the hardest fight of my life. It’s been 5 years of dealing with custody battles and now we finally get to close that difficult chapter. Rush has voiced many times on how he wanted Alessa to adopt him. Yesterday, Alessa got to adopt Rush as his legal mother. Thank you to my wife @alessaquizon for doing more than stepping up. For coming in and accepting rush as your own. Thank you for holding rush together as a mother would, helping me make our son’s dreams come. Thank you for pouring in all of your love and energy into completing our family.

“I thank my son for being brave and strong through it all. Thank you god. It’s a big win for the Holloway’s. But more importantly Rush finally got to choose and keep the mom that he deserves.”

In addition, Holloway’s wife shared a heartfelt post of her own on Instagram celebrating the moment, signing it, “Mom”.

“You never deserved to be neglected and have to pick up those broken pieces on your own. You never deserved to be heartbroken. You never deserved that kind of love. That’s why I promise to always be there for you. To help dad raise you into a strong young man, a path you are already on. I promise to always be in your corner, no matter what. You deserve nothing but pure unconditional love. A love that I promise to keep giving. I love you.
Mom”

Max Holloway Opens up on His Son’s Relationship With Alessa

Leading up to Max Holloway’s fight with Dustin Poirier on the UFC 318 card, both he and his wife appeared on Taisei Discovers, where they talked about a wide range of topics.

At one point, Max revealed that Alessa didn’t miss a beat when it came to navigating a relationship with a single dad, and in turn, when Rush was just seven years old, he asked Max if he could call Alessa Mom.

“When Alessa came in, she was never a mom, she don’t have no kids. She don’t know what it is, but she just jumped right in head first and did it, and she made Rush feel so loved. This kid, when he was seven years old, he came up to me and he’s like ‘Dad, can I call Auntie Alessa Mom?’ … This is not stepmom or anything, he’s straight calling ‘Mom’ wherever we go. He tells everybody, ‘This is my mother, this is my Mom.’ … I knew she was the one right when he asked me.”

Now, Alessa Holloway is legally Rush’s mom.

Max Holloway’s Son Shares Heartwarming Moment Backstage With Dustin Poirier Following UFC 318

Years back, when Dustin Poirier beat Max Holloway for the interim lightweight title at UFC 236, The Diamond offered Rush Holloway some words of comfort in a moment that quickly went viral.

Following Holloway’s win over Poirier in their trilogy fight, Rush was seen congratulating Poirier on his career, and thanking The Diamond for giving his dad an opportunity to close out their rivalry on a win.

Much like when Poirier comforted Rush backstage back in 2019, the moment of the two went viral in the wake of The Diamond’s retirement.
