Maxx Crosby finally spoke out after the Las Vegas Raiders shut him down for the rest of the 2025 NFL season before their Week 17 loss to the New York Giants. Moreover, since that announcement, there has been considerable trade speculation surrounding the Raiders star.
Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report highlighted five potential teams that could trade for Crosby, fueling speculation in recent days, particularly since the Raiders’ decision didn’t sit well with him.
Nonetheless, as speculation over his future is running rampant, Crosby set the record straight during his appearance on “Let’s Go!” with Jim Gray. Still, nowhere in his words did he mention that he wants to be a Raider next season.
“I’m honestly doing phenomenal,” Crosby said in a video posted by SiriusXM NFL Radio on December 30. “I’m here at the facility. I have a lot of thoughts and emotions, but I’m focused on putting the work in and being with my teammates. At the end of the day, I love being with my guys. That’s it. I’m just going to leave it at that. I’m doing great, though. Happy. That’s all I can say.”
NFL Insider Offers Latest on Maxx Crosby Situation
Moreover, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter shared the latest on the situation, as Las Vegas will likely want to mend fences with their star pass rusher rather than trading him.
“I think both sides could be right,” Schefter said on the December 29 appearance on the “Pat McAfee Show.” “I think where the Raiders are coming from is that they had scans done on his knee. Doctors felt like his condition had worsened. He needs knee surgery at some point this offseason. They’re in a spot where, why would they expose him?
“He is a football player and wants to keep playing, of course. His drive, energy, [and] attitude is what has made him so successful. So he wants to keep playing. And from their standpoint, they don’t want to risk putting him out there and making it worse, especially when they’re competing for the No. 1 pick. There’s no reason for them to do that.
“So he may not like it, but it sounds like what they were doing was the right thing. I think both sides in this particular case are right. They have no plans to trade him. I don’t know if that’ll change. I don’t know if he demands anything and makes it such that they have to trade him. But right now, that’s not how they’re thinking.”
Former Raiders CEO Doesn’t See Maxx Crosby Trade
Despite all the speculation and rumors, former Raiders CEO Amy Trask does not think the Silver and Black will move Crosby this offseason.
“I love you [Raiders] fans, I always will, so I share this with the hope it may alleviate some concern: I believe it to be unlikely that [Crosby] will seek to leave the team, given his business relationships with [Raiders minority owner Tom Brady] and [Jim Gray] that extend beyond the field,“ Trask wrote on X on December 29.
Moreover, on December 29, Raiders head coach Pete Carroll told reporters in his press conference that Crosby is back in the building.
“We’re doing great,“ Carroll said (h/t Pro Football Talk). “We’re eye-to-eye on what’s going on.”
