Maxx Crosby Issues Strong Response to Caleb Williams Claim

The Las Vegas Raiders are coming off a hard-fought match with the Chicago Bears. Though the Bears won 25-24, defensive end Maxx Crosby had one of the most impressive defensive performances of the season.

After the game, quarterback Caleb Williams said that Crosby is the best player he has played against in his young career. The Pro Bowler had three passes defended, three tackles for loss, an interception and was pressuring Williams all game.

Even though Williams is a young player, Crosby was very appreciative of his kind words.

“Hearing that from a really good player [Williams] is cool,” Crosby said on “The Rush.” “Our matchup was all day, you know what I mean? All day we were going back and forth. He’s a competitor, bro, I’ll give it to him. He didn’t back down. He kept getting back up and kept trying to make plays. He definitely earned my respect. He’s a competitor and he is hard to tackle and he makes plays happen.”

It’s been a tough start to Williams’ career, but he’s starting to make more plays that remind the Bears why he was the No. 1 pick. Earning the respect of a player like Crosby is worth a lot for a young player.

Pete Carroll Praises Crosby

Raiders fans were waiting for Crosby to have a huge game this season, and it finally came in Week 4. Even though he didn’t get a sack, it was clear that he was the best player on the field when he was on it.

Raiders head coach Pete Carroll had a lot of good things to say about the star defensive end.

“If you think about it, this is what I’ve been impressed with, because I’ve been here through the preseason with him — he did those same things in preseason,” Carroll said. “Every time he’s been on the field, he makes things happen, and he’s doing it with very limited opportunities, because he’s getting doubled all the time in pass pro, and the ball is going away from him the whole time in the games — they’re running away from him, but he makes a play in the backside. And if you challenge him, he’s been there.

“I mean, he’s all over the football and almost had two picks. This was his first pick he ever got. I’m shocked at that, because he just seems like he should have had more in the same circumstances, the perimeter passing game, he’s eliminating it by himself by knocking the balls down and challenging the quarterback. But the best part about it, that’s who Maxx is.”

Carroll Thinks Crosby Needs to Be Celebrated

This is Carroll’s first year coaching Crosby, so he’s still learning the player. He’s been in awe of the defensive end so far.

“It should be as celebrated as you can make it, because he’s the real deal, and it’s a joy to watch him work, joy to watch him play, and you don’t know what’s going to happen next,” Carroll said. “He’s got a little bit of unpredictability about him in a lot of areas of his life, and it’s a wonderful attribute that comes through in his play and for his teammates and all of that. So, couldn’t be more proud of him.”
